Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette

O2 Sensor??? Got a printout from AutoZone that showed my van has O2 sensor issues. This morning it had trouble running at idle and there is a terrible sound like a pressure leak coming from the engine. The engine is also shaking!!!Please tell me what might be wrong.

This sounds like a vacum leak o2 sensor does not cause this problem look for a broke or disconeted hose some times its helpfull so spray water aruund the hoses and it will change the way the engin runs if you find one

Is the wiring good going to the O2 sensors? Maybe just look the car over and see if you have any bad grounds. They can do weird things. Could be a bad ICU.

Before i spend money on a maf sensor i wanted to get a second opinion on my symptoms?

Check out a new coolant sensor. Some vehicles have 2 and one works the dash gauge and the other is needed for Engine management(Fuel mix, timing). Ask at Autozone or go to Advance, or Oreilys for a second scan.
The O2 sensors control how the engine runs. Sometimes they will self-clean, but if you have a bad indication, they should be changed. I usually work on Ford brands but this is pretty universal. The scanners should also tell you which O2 is bad out of the many you may have on your car.

the transmission replcement mechanic may have missed plugging the 02 sensor back up,or layed the 02 sensor wires across the exhaust system, which burnt the 02 sensor wires.they also may have missed plugging sensors back up. suggest you go back to replacement mechanic and have them explain to you why it does'nt run the same. but do not be fooled, somethings not plugged back correctly.i know budget living. is check engine light on? if so, auto zone and advance auto parts can diagnose with printout for free. no charge! hope this helps and thank you for choosing us marine retired

A number of items may cause your engine to run rich. I'd guess given the year of the car I'd say the O2 (oxygen) sensor has failed. The O2 sensor is mounted in to the exhaust and it will dicate the amount of gasoline within the air/fuel mixture. If the O2 sensor fails the ECU will have the fuel system run rich rather then risk running too lean. Running too lean may cause heat issues and damage valves. Try taking your car to Autozone or such. Many part store will plug your computer in to a hand held reading device; this may show what the issue is.
I hope this may have helped,
