I have a new stereo to fir into a 97 Golf CL unfortunatey when the original one was stolen they ripped out the connectors on the back so i just have the wires. I have the connecting loom to fit the new stereo but cannot see how to match the wires together as the colour coding is different.
How would i find out which wire is which so i can connect them together correctly?

some times factory stereos have extra wires that when installing an after market stereo might be extra. if you have your 3 power wires figured out, your speaker wires figured out, and remote start amp wires, then your good. it is possible that it is a wire that turned the light on the factory stereo when lights were turned on in your car. hope this helps, goodluck
You can purchase a small package of crimp connectors for the electrical connections. If the wires are exposed, you can connect them using this following list of connections. These are the CAR's wiring (not the radio unit) Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Orange

If not you can visit the clarion website with the radio model number to get the color codes for the radio wiring.. Simply crimp each to the correct corresponding wire.
