Question about 1995 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

I put back on my hard top after taking it off for the first time. At high speeds I am getting a squeak through the passanger window. How do I fix it???

I took the Jeep top off for the first time. Upon putting it back on I noticed a squeak coming from the passenger's side door. Air is getting in like it's not sealed enough. I've tried tightening the hinges on the door but this didn't work. Is there a certain order I am supposed to tighten bolts for the top to prevent this??

First of all put all the bolts in by hand, don't tighten it. tightsone at a time tart from the rear center, skippe one and go forward. (one left and one right.) till you reach the end. then tighten the rest of the bolts.

I would suggest putting new wiper blades on it or failing that have the screen cleaned as sometimes the cleaning stuff the valeters use can cause this annoying problem
Hope this helps

My passanger side window switch is not working. I have to use the drivers side one to get the window up and down. It has a new switch in it and that did not fix the problem. I checked the fuses and it...

The brushes in the window motor could be gone. But short of taking the window motor apart, you won't know. If you take the switch back out that you replaced and put 12 volt power to the wires going to the window motor. If that doesn't work then the motor needs attention.

The drivers side headlight on my 2002 Saab won't

This is probably a problem with the orange headlight relay under the hood in the relay black box. Take the relay out and clean contacts and put back in. If does not fix, try a new relay or swap with another 9-5 to troubleshoot.

Loud whistling noise while driving.

I think there is a TSB on that problem. If the wind is coming from the passanger side then roll the window all the way down. Put a 2X4 in the door jam. So the 2X4 will be inbetween the the door and the jeep. Push on the top of the door like you are trying to close the door. What you are trying to do and slightly bend the top of the door toward the jeep. But just do it a little at a time.

Squeak and slight vibration heard and felt in steering column at low speeds (Parking lots, etc)

Get a friend to turn wheel back and forth in the garage, get on the ground and use your hands to feel where the noise is coming from. Metal gives off a significant amount of vibrations with noise. Should be easy to tell where it's coming from. Could be your rack and pinion, however I would be much more willing to consider ball joints. Hard to tell without getting "down and dirty" on the floor under the vehicle feeling for the noise.

Could be your steering gearbox, tierod end, rack and pinion piston, low power steering fluid, bad serp belt, ball joints, front struts/mounting hardware.

Also test steering with the entire vehicle on the floor and with the front end off the ground lifted by a few floor jacks lifting on the frame of the vehicle.

Ball joints especially on Ford vehicles tend to squeak after a while (mostly since they are the sealed type) even if they pass a safety inspection.
