Lever under the steering column

We just purchased a 1989 Honda Accord LX and there is a lever under the dash just to the left of the steering column. It has a white arrow on it and it pulls striaght out. It dopes not seem to be connected to anything and as soon as you let go ... it just goes back in. What is it for and what does it do?

WOW I feel like an idiot. I have been pumping that darn thing hoping it would help get the car started.. After reading this I ran out to the car and investigated and i'll be darn a spring is attached to the steering column and if u pull the lever out and push down on it (u may have to put some muscle into it) it pops down and ur steering wheel is now completely adjustable put it where you want it pull lever out again and pull it upward to it's original position to lock it. I feel really stupid but it did give me a pretty good laugh at myself but i'll never tell anyone that i've done it.

I have problems with my cruise control not activating. The on/off button works. i replaced the steering wheel control and the computer box under the steering wheel column. All that is left is the actuator. Is there any way for me to check to see if it is working under the hood?? thx

This is the tilt wheel set lever- when it is pulled out, push it down (see arrow), tilt the wheel to where you want it, and push the lever up to lock it in position- then push back in! You have an adjustable steering column!

Pull handle under the dash on the left of the steering column. It is pretty well hidden. You will have to bend over and look for the lever. Then lift the lever under the hood... in the center.

The fuel Pump relay (main relay)
On your Honda Accord is located:
Left side of the dash, near left side of the steering column.
On direction under the Instrument cluster.
You will need to remove the Cruise control Module if your car is equipaded with cruise control.
The cruise control module is atached fro 2 screw 10mm.
One on the steering column the other one at the Instrument bracket.
After you remove the cruise computer, you will see the relay.
Is a little bigger that a regular relay colour gray.
And the number on the relay is : RZ0088.

I hope this help on your question.
