If the engine light is coming on, it's a warning of a problem w/ your car, especially because u r experiencing a lack of power. U must check this out asap, as u may damage the vehicle by continuing to drive it. Have the codes read by a garage, dealer , or parts store. Most parts stores do it for free, and will explain what the codes mean. All it involves is having them plug a hand held computer (actually it's a scan tool) into a port under your dash, which connects w/ the car computer and reads any malfunction codes stored in the computer. countrycurt0

Engine lacks power, but engine light does not come on

Without more info, I'm just guessing here, but first thing that comes into mind is a fuel filter being stopped up. Then it could be time for a tune up. And I have seen transmission problems make it seem like the car is low on power.

Aftermarket oil filters will do this. Causing a lack of oil pressure when idleing and starting. Replace your oil filter with one from Volvo ALWAYS!!

It sounds like it might be runnig lean on fuel. How old is the fuel filter. Lack of fuel will cause this. Ford needs about 40 psi of pressure to run well. So it runs a lot of fuel thru the filter. It should be changed at least every 30,000 ?

My 1996 Saab 900 SE V6 2.5 L lacks power and sputters on acceleration. Any suggestions as to what this may be? Also, it's hard to get up to and maintain speed, flashing check engine light.

Could be a number of things. The one that comes to mind the most is of course a fuel problem. How does it idle? Put the car in neutral and rev the engine. Any problems there? If not than your getting the fuel you need. If it only happens while your driving, could be a slew of things from a slipping transmission to a bad clutch (if its standard). MAF could be faulting. I would try to get a code out from that check engine light.

Jag diesel o5 engine fault

Hi Without seeing exactly what your looking at ,you need to try and find the vacumn pipes going to the control valve and carefully lok to see they are conected and that there are no splits in the pipes,if the pipes and mechanically sound then you probably have a fault valve, try running your finger around the valve to see if the hissing noise changes.
Hope this helps
