2000 plymouth voyager problem with ignition switch?

I have been having problems with my key in the ignition switch for a couple of weeks.Sometimes I have to jiggle the key before it turns. Today I went to turn my van on and it wouldn't turn over-battery works fine. I had AAA out and they said maybe something is not letting the key turn all the way on. It seems to only get to the point where I can get the radio going, but nothing past that(the actual starting of the van). Any idea what I need to do? Do I need to get a new switch? I have not had any other problem with the van..................Thanks!

Your problem is caused by the little pins that the key moves to unlock the cylinder, they are sticking, go to a parts store and buy some graphite lock lubricant, if that does not help you will have to replace the lock cylinder before it jams and strands you somewhere.

Your starter ignition wire could have broke or fallen off. Check the connections a the starter. If that is not the problem than of course check your starter relay and or fuse. If those are good, than its time for a new ignition switch.

1998 Plymouth grand voyager ignition won't turn

I have had this happen on my 98 Voyager. Just have a new key cut. This new key will sometimes cure the problem. The older keys get worn out and won't unlock the ignition. Try this before a much more expensive and time consuming change of the ignition.

Ignition key wont turn on 2000 plymouth voyager

I don't believe there is a way you can start it without turning the tumbler on the key switch. You also have a locking steering wheel which would also have to be disabled in order to drive it.

The locks jump up and down when i drive, sometimes wont start

the security system problems are common on this - do the lights flash and horn cycles when it locks up - the security system is wired into car main computer - can't be bypassed as far as i know - i read that to get around this lock doors manually - no key or remote - also hood switch could be problem

Takes several ''cranks'' to start van

your ignition switch might be worn or the ignition circuit might have build up resistance due to age. Some cars refuse to start when these things happen. The fix for this is a new electrical part of the ignition switch.

Good Luck
