Try the dealer. i dont know if local parts stores will stock them but you can try. but i would go to the dealer

Brake pedal height is controlled by a rubber block which the pedal comes to rest against. It may have broken and be missing. Clutch pedal height can be controlled by many things and you don't tell us what car you have.

Open the bleeder on the caliper and take the cap of the master cylinder and let it sit for a few minutes. If still you get no fluid out try opening the metal line where it does into the rubber line and see if fluid comes out there. If so you have a bad brake hose which is common. If you still dont get any try to have someone help you bleed it. Mean having someone sit in it and you open the caliper bleeder and tell them to press down on the brake pedal and hold it. When they have the pedal on the floor you close the bleeder. Repeat this several times until fluid is coming out of the bleeder. After you have fluid coming out, have them pump the brake pedal 3 or 4 time and on the last pump keep presure on the brake. Take a min now and check your brake fluid level, running out would kinda be a pain. Now open the bleeder and allow the brake pedal to sink to the floor of the car. Ask the helper to tell you when the pedal is on the floor and not moving anymore and then, while they are still holding it down close the bleeder. I would do that again once more and then remember to re check your fluid level in the master cylinder.

i suggest a bad master cylinder, but 1st answer this, when you apply brakes firmly and keep pressure on the brake pedal, does pedal go down while you're holding pressure on the pedal? if so, the master cylinders bad. and also have you checked the vacum to the brake booster?

weird but try this. at the top of you brake pedal you see a switch that the brake pedal touches when in the unpressed position see if that stopper you are talking about mounts on the pedal arm .

I have an 02 Mits. Lancer w/ a manual trans. Whenever I try to put it in any gear there's a lot of resistance. I pretty much have to use two hands and even then it's tough. Could this be a fluid problem or...


check hydraulics for leaks by looking at the slave cylinder on the gearbox activating the clutch fork,pull the rubber boot back (no fluid o.k)look at the clutch pedal under the dash and peel that rubber boot back(no fluid o.k)bleed it to be sure by pumping the clutch pedal,holding it down and getting someone to crack the bleeder on the slave cylinder on the gearbox,HOLD the pedal down and tighten the bleeder first before releasing the clutch pedal,otherwise air will be sucked in if you pull the pedal back first.If that doesnt work you probably need a clutch but this is more likley and check the line running from the master to the slave for leaks and tightness

I assure that there is a brake lamp switch on your brake pedal, try feeling all the way up the pedal shaft, if you still dont find it, i suggest you buy the haynes repair manual for that vehicle, it will tell you exactly where it is.

My brake pedal sometimes would be hard to press, I took it to the mechanic and they said it was fine a week later when I drove it again the brake pedal did the dame thing hard to push and I couldnt...


ok here is the problem...your brake fluit is bad..maybe someone may have put some other kind of fluit in the brake bowl, but your brakes system is now No longer any good..you will have to change every part of the brake system that has rubber in it...thats starting with the master cyl, then all the brake lines that are rubber, and all the calipers and wheel cyl if you have drum brakes...so any part that has rubber in the system, you have no choice but to change...even the check value, for brakes..if you have one...and the best way to find out if your fluit is bad, just open the top of the master cyl cap and check the amount of fluit you have...but that is what you really need to look at is the rubber in the cap..if the rubber ring, that sets in the cap is a lot larger and your even having a hard time putting it in the cap to close it up.....then for sure...your system is bad...with out any question...your car even with no one even touching the brake pedal and you try to drive it anywhere..the calipers are stuck close and no matter what you do..the car will not move...no where..so good luck..to bad because it happen when people try to do a good thing and change the stuff under the hood, for the brake and trans fluit and all that stuff...wrong stuff in the brake systemm...your cost to fit it..a good $ 1,000

you need to bleed the clutch system.. have someone pump the clutch pedal three or four times, hold it down and release the bleeder valve( make sure the person holds the pedal down till after you tighten the bleeder valve back down) repeat this four or five times or till the clutch pedal feels like it did before.. good luck keith...

No brakes


Have you checked to see if there is fluid leaking out on the ground from a broken brake line or rubber brake hose on front calipers? If you have no leaks, Then You must start the Bleeding proceedure starting at the furthest Bleeder frist. Do You Know How To Do This?? 1st of all you will need to have someone help you. Now I believe you will have to have the ignition on, NOT RUNNING Just in the On position. Have your Friend Pump the Brake Pedal Three (3) time and Hold the pedal down with Medium Pressure, at that time you will open the Bleeder thats Furthest from the Master cylinder and let the air come out of the bleeder , After all air is out then close the Bleeder tell your friend to let off pedal and pump up again. Just repeat on each wheel clyinder until the air is completely gone, Now go to your Front Brakes and do the same thing, You should get your pedal back, If not and you don't see any fluid leaks You may have gotten a bad master cylinder from the shop. I sure hope that help you out. If that don't work get back to me and we will find out what in the Heck is going on. It could be several things a bad wheel cylinder if it has drumb brakes on the back, If not it may be a bad caliper, Or a broken rubber Hose. Could be a broken spring in the drum. Brake lights


it's located up underneath the pedal, just follow the pedal up and you will see it. If your lights are staying on, and your cruise control not working, its because a little rubber part has broken and is not depressingthe switch button. go to the dealer and tell them you need that rubber part, they will probably have to order it, it's cheap like a buck or so. Installation can be difficult if you are not a small person. but it can be done. Took me 2 minuts but i fit well under the pedals.
