Question about Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

How many bolts hold Mitsubishi 2.0 head on?The reason I ask is because there are 3 bolts in the middle of the head that are a different size than the other 12 bolts?Do these bolts need to come off to remove the head?Or is the head held down by the 12 bolts only? The repair book I have doesn't say anything about the 3 bolts in the middle.

If the head won't come loose after removing the 12 bolts then it is a fair guess the other 3 are head retaining bolts. I have no idea of the year of the engine or I would look it up, please provide the year if you need further help.

There are only 10 head bolts on that engine. the 3 bolts your talking about, aren't bolts they are plugs and shouldn't be removed.
how many bolts hold Mitsubishi - a60ce70.jpg7ff722a.jpg if your pulling the head with the intake manifold attached, make sure you removed the bolts from the support bracket under the intake manifold.

Alternator location on a 2010Toyota tundra

if you open the hood standing in the middle of truck, facing towards the windshield, split the motor in half, the alternator should be left of center of motor, it is round, it has a pulley it may have 1 or 2 belts or 1 serpentine belt, if it is a serpentine belt you are going to need a tool call serpentine belt tool kit, long bar with a socket on the bar, set of different sizes of sockets to fit the spring load device that hold the serpentine belt in place. on top of alternator is a wire connector with 2-3 wires that connect to the starter and battery, and bolt with connector for ground that is bolted on the back side of alternator, 2-3 bolts that hold the alternator in place, remove bolts, take it auto parts store have them test it before buying a new one.

What are the torque specs on a 2000 Nissan maxima head

If possible, replacement of the head bolts is suggested.
  1. If replacement of the head bolts is not possible, perform the following bolt measurement:
    1. Measure the diameter of the head bolt 0.43 in. (11mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    2. Measure the diameter of the head bolt 1.89 in. (48mm) from the bottom of the bolt.
    3. Whenever the size difference between the 2 measurements exceeds 0.0043 in. (0.11mm) the head bolts must be replaced.
  2. Install the cylinder head bolts and torque in sequence as follows:
    1. Step 1: 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Completely loosen all bolts.
    3. Step 3: 25-33 ft. lbs. (34-44 Nm).
    4. Step 4: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.
    5. Step 5: plus 90-95 degrees clockwise.

Two bolts are striped on 1983 280ZX, what size are head bolts to get right size heli coil and how hard is it to install heli coil in block ?

You should take the stripped bolts with you to purchase the new bolts at the auto store at the same time you buy the heli-coil inserts. While I could give you a possible size, (some are shorter, some longer in some engines) you have the exact part right there with you. Go ahead and take a good head bolt with you too.

The inserts are of brittle steel and must be installed carefully, but, this is done frequently for the same reason you need them without any problem.

There is also the option of tapping the damaged threads up to the next size, and using a different size head bolt, but you have to decide which is best based on your experience level and the availability of parts.

How much torque on head bolts for an 2002 grand am?

If you are ambitious enough to do your own repairs, i can't say it enough! You really need to get a repair manual they have all the information you need to do everything. Torque specs. are different for every vehical. M anuals can be had from parts stores or online in the form of downloads. Down loads are ussualy less expensive. Good luck

Replace alternator belt

  • Locate the two belts on the left side (passenger side) of your Mitsubishi Lancer. The outer belt is a serpentine belt, operating four pulleys and the inner belt is your alternator belt.

  • 2

Follow the serpentine (outer) belt to the three pulleys lined up vertically near the front of the engine compartment. Locate the middle pulley, which is the tension pulley for the belt.

  • 3

Loosen the bolt on the middle pulley with a socket wrench by turning counter-clockwise. Do not remove the bolt, just turn it a couple of times. Loosen the tensioner bolt on the side of the of the pulley, facing the front of the vehicle.

  • 4

Remove the serpentine belt and then loosen the bolt on the alternator. With the alternator loose, move it forward so that the alternator belt loosens up and then remove belt from the pulleys.

  • 5

Install the new alternator belt by placing it over both inside pulleys. Tighten the tension on the alternator belt by moving the alternator back and keeping tension on it by holding it back with a long screwdriver. While the alternator belt is tight, use a socket wrench to tighten up the bolt on the alternator.

  • 6

Place the serpentine belt back on the pulleys and then use a socket wrench on the bolt on the front of the tension pulley. Once the serpentine belt is tight, tighten up the bolt in the middle of the tension pulley.

  • 7

Start the Mitsubishi Lancer's engine to test the alternator belt and make sure it is working properly. Once you have verified it is working, turn the engine off.

2002 chevy impala 3.4 engine - egr valve bolt size? I was changing the EGR valve and somehow i misplaced the 2 bolts that secures the egr valve to the engine (not the 3rd bolt that secures the exhaust...

I do not know, but 8mm is used most, the length you may can figure out,but go to the parts house, and ask for2 bolts 8mm 1.25 thread,at 25 mm long, and ask for 8mm 1.50 thread, and 25mm length, and cover your bases, they are not that high in price,if some one has them, this way you can go by this,Look at the e g r valve to make sure you can get the bolts in the holes of the e g r valve, cause the heads of the new bolts will ,no doubt be larger than the ones that came out of it,the bolts are a general,or generic if you will, and will work if you can get them in the e g r valve, and use a wrench to screw them in,

Per my Chilton's manual tehe bolts should be (cold engine) 65 to 72 FT. Pnds., the cam shaft bearing bolts should be 8x25 = 15 - 19 Ft pnds and the 8x65 should be 14 - 15 Ft Pnds.

The sequence is as follows for the (10 ) head bolts:
