Weak heating and weak cooling in cabin

Heater only blows slightly warm air. Air conditioner works well for 30 seconds and them thermostat cuts if off, as if its reached the desired temperature. Not a climate contorol system, just normal dials.

Are you sure thermostat is the one cutting off the compressor?..you know that the temperature of the cabin is still not cold.

there are pressure switches that could be triggered to turn off the compressor.

observe the compressor and see if it would engage again and observe how long on and how long off.

is the condenser fan running?

let me know,

Why does my heat blow warm air then it turns cold

its VERY likely that your heater core is getting stopped up.

The heater in your car works by circulating hot water from the engine into a copper or aluminum pipe coiled up in the dashboard. The heater/airconditioner's fan blows across it and the hot air comes out of the vents. This is why the heater doesn't work right away when you first start the car. It usually won't work until the hot/cold needle in the gauges is starting to rise up.

If your mechanic recently replaced the thermostat, its possible that there is air in the system which will result in less antifreeze in the car than it should be. If this is not the case, the heater core is probably stopping up and will require expensive replacement if it cannot be flushed clean.

Check to make sure the car is full of antifreeze IN THE RADIATOR, AND THE OVERFLOW JUG. Please be very sure there is NO AIR in the cooling system as well.

My 92 for taurus wagon is blowing cold air instead of hot air, what could be the problem?

Behind the tempearture switch is an arm that is telescopic and raises and lowers the temperature. If this arm is either broken off or loose, it can create an inability to change the temperature. It can also be a problem with the heating unit in the ac in the car.

No heat , replaced radiator , water pump, rad. cap , hoses and flushed system twice.blows cool air.whats left?

Thermostat.? if you haven't? Do it first then try it. While the car is running for a while touch the heater hoses that lead to the firewall. if one is cold and one is hot? You have a blocked Heater core. Follow the hoses back to the engine. Unconnect them both. By using a garden hose flush out the heater core do one side and then reverse by doing the other hose Lots of junk will come out so be care ful. Mistake people make is "Flushing the system" That doesn't mean your flushing the heater core.
Seeing that you have done everything else it could be the thermostat which you didn't list or the heater core being clogged. When you finished installing the thermostat and flushing the heater core out. Replenish the coolant system . If you have a bleeder on the thermostat housing? use it . loosen it and top off the fluid until you see fluid comeout of the bleeder. The system being air bound would cause no heat..

Heater blowing slightly warm air, but certainly not hot enough for pa winters. what should i try to fix first?

You may have to replace your heater core . Heater cores are kinda like you outside ac unit and if you stand by it you can feel all the hotter air blowing from it to the cooler atomosphere!!!! So basicly your heater core are alumminum fins that your blower pushes recycled heated motor air through', and into the cab . Maybe the blower is weak . Check your fuses and hoses!!!!

posable problems are bad thermostat if engine is warming the coolant it could also be the heater core pluging up , low colant level , colant flow control valve ,loose belt or a weak water pump

My heater is blowing cold air what can I do?

Hello, The normal operating temp for this car is about 95°C. If your car is not running this temp after it warms up, you probably have a bad thermostat.
If you are not getting good air flow, have someone ck your cabin filter. It could be stopped up bad giving you weak airflow. It is located on the right side at the bottom of the dash.
If you find this information to be correct would you please enter a "fixya" rating.
