Try clearing the codes from the computer and see if it starts. If the computer sees some problems a couple times it cuts the spark and fuel to the engine. Write down the codes and do a search to see what the problem is, its simple on these cars.

have you done any work on the car or any accidents. anything could have happened but sounds like you have a bad ground or clipped wire check that. you might have to run a new wire to the pump from the fuse box. that is what i would do.
Is the check engine light on? Check for fault codes first. Sometimes these engines had issues with carbon build up and poor starting cold. Run a bottle of Techron thru the tank and see if it gets better.
hello, volvo had the same problem, if you look under your fuse box, you will find your fuel pump rely. fcpgroton has them for a good price. the cam position sensor will also cause this to happen the next time it cuts off tap it a couple of times while some one trys to start your car
you might be having a short circuit open the fuse box try pulling one by one starting with central locking fuse ,each time checking whether the turn signal stop"speed" flashing if you find which one tell your mec to deal with it.
have you checked for splits in the air intake pipe that goes from the air filter box to the throttlebody housing. Also check your plugs might also be worth checking the lambada sensor, these have two on them one is pre cat and one is post cat
it is probally due to an evap -code and never refuel with engine running go to a parts store and get the code and erase code and go to have car inspected right away and put a bottle of emission reducer in tank WITH 1/8 OF FUEL and then put it on machine and you should be ok
This worked for me and others: Problem is usually due to fuel relay. There are two of them one nearthe radiator and one near the fuse box, it is the fuse box one thatcauses the problem. Some people have said you can knock on it to get ittemporarily working again, I replaced mine and the problem has notreappeared. Just unplug and plug in new one. No more stalling. This is the part http://www.drivewire.com/products/volvo-850/fuel-pump-relay/843/
check all of your fuses there should be a fuse pannl under he hood and it will have large fses called maxi fuses in it also there may be some relays in there as well. the lid of this fuse pannel should have an explanation of what each fuse and each relay is for.
