I was driving the car when it made a loud pop sound and started acting like it was out of gas or a vacuum leak. the car will spin over and will not start. If i press the gas to the floor it acts like it wants to start but don't.
What engine. Check for spark and check for fuel. There is a fuel rail on the side of where the carb would be put a rag over the valve on the rail that looks like you would fill a tire up with air under a black plastic cap. Put rag over and press center down with a screw driver and fuel should squirt out under pressure. Timing could have jumped. Get back to us

it has the 4.6 v8. it has gas to the fuel rail. and it has a good spark. i sprayed starting fluid into the airbox and it fired up but cut right off.
Can you keep it running on starter fluid
If it will run on starter fluid You are not getting fuel. Try turning key on you should hear the fuel pump run for 5 to 10 seconds near the gas tank. The tank could be under the floor where you sit not all are in the rear
i can hear the fuel pump come on. and when i push the valve on the fuel rail gas come out. i'll have to try and see if it will stay running on starting fluid when i get off work
Under the hood drivers side by strut tower is a box with relays and fuses check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. Remove a relay from another spot that is just like it or look in the box for a spare. If they are good drop the tank and put a new pump in. 80 dollars for pump or 135 for sending unit pump and sock
Borrow a fuel pressure tester from auto parts store. Reading should be 35 t0 40 lbs and when you rev it up the pressure moves up and down between 35 and 40 if it remains steady replace fuel regulator or if you remove vacuum line from it and there is gas present replace. If pressure is low your fuel pump is weak or your gas filter that you replace on a regular basis is plugged. You can buy a tester for 17.99 at harbor freight
