Question about 2005 Toyota Avalon

Trunk latch (electric) does not work on Avalon Touring

2005 Toyota Avalon Touring electric wireless truck switch does not work.  The dash switch nor the wireless access does not work.  Is there a electric replay that is bad. If so, where is it located and what is the part number.

That solution did not work.  I had followed the manual instructions but to no avail.  since the dash switch does not work, I think its a electric relay that gone bad.  Its as if its not getting power.

The key & access pad is what can with the new car.  THE ACCESS PAD HAS THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ON ITS BACK: TRW FCC IN: GG43VT20T, IC:1470A-1T, MEXLRLVTR5002-562.

The doors locks work properly.  I tried all 3 access pads that came with the car, followed the manual instructions and it still does not work. What's puzzling is the interior switch does not work either.  I've press the glove box button in and out and tried to reset but no response.

Your trunk master switch is probably off. Open the glove box, and, on the driver side of the glove box, the trunk master switch is located there. If this is activated, the remote and the dash switch are deactivated. Please repost if this does not solve your problem.

Do you have a "smart key", or just a regular transmitter?

  • Toyota Ed Oct 11, 2008

Do the door locks work properly? If so, you do not have any bad relays. The doors and the trunk are all o the same circuit.

There is a possibility that the wireless function has been turned off, or somehow lost its programming. What you will have to do it go to a Toyota dealer, and have them hook up their "techstream" tool, and reprogram the trunk lock to be active; it can be disabled thru the tool, and, if so, can only be reactivated with this tool.

Not able to open trunk

The release cable is probably slightly stretched and the latch a little dry of lubricant.Have someone **** on the release inside the car while you press the flat of your hand over the area of the latch and use a CPR approach on it, pressing down firmly and releasing again.Doing this a few times will often open trunks and gas fill covers.
Once open, use a lubricant on the latch mechanism, preferably not WD40 since this evaporates. Use another type of more durable oil on it.
Unfortunately, if the cable release needs replaced, this could be pretty involved (= costly).

Toyota 2000 Avalon trunk lock problem I think I accidentally lost a spring in the lock mechanism when I tied a Xmas tree in the trunk with a hooked bungy cord. Now the truck will stay closed. Does anyone...

You trunk switch in the glove box may be turned off. It is located on the left hand side inside the glove box. Be sure that it is turned on and then attempt to pen the trunk. Don't give up after one try. I have a 2006 and it has taken a couple of cycles of the off/on switch and the electronic key to open it.If this does not work, you probably have damage and may have to take the vehicle to a shop and ask about having the trunk opened and either order the new parts for an electronic lock or have a keyed lock installed, once the trunk has been opened manually at the shop.

How do I adjust the trunk lid in my 2007 avalon?

The latch on the CAR, not the trunk, can be adjusted ud or down Usually has bolts on both sides that you can loosen. If you are slamming it to close, Adjust latch up alittle, re-tighten bolts and close trunk. It is an easy adjustment. Just be patient end keep latch level
