Question about 1995 Chevrolet S-10 CA Edition

1 Answer

Transmission Problem This only happens when it is pouring down rain. I have a 95 chevy S10 4.3 Vortec automatic 4l60E tranny. My truck will run fine until I run into water where it splashes up, but not enough to get into my engine bay. The engine will have no problem shifting to 1st but then it will rev and not go into second. Once it dries up I don't have a problem. Within the last two years I have replaced the fuel pump, the air idle control valve, gave it a complete tune-up (plugs, wires, cap and button, fuel filter, and air filter).

Its flood a tranny sensor causing a circuit fault, rain water conducts electricity. Locate this/these sensors and coat them with a sealing agent, your local auto parts store will have the stuff you need. No water, no short.

95 G20 van transmission IN a 94 G20 van will it work and what would I need to modify to make it work thanks

4L60E 4speed automatic most likely. Very common in a multitude of GM products since the early 90's. Should fit with no modification. Best to measure your old tranny from bell housing to tailshaft and compare to the one you want to use. That way you can determine if your tranny mount and driveshaft will be a good match. Should be ok if they are both the same model tranny.

no. in the late 80's chevy switched to a electronic automatic tranny called the 4L60E, that is the tranny you should be looking for. the only bad part, its more expensive.

Auto: 4L60E. This is a bastard year; if you are needing a new tranny, it must be out of another 1995.

What model 4L60E tranny's can I put in my 1998 chevy z71 automatic. Will a 4L60E out of gmc jimmys and other gm aplications work the same? Would i be able to interchange a few parts from them to make it...

the way i figured which 4l60e works with my truck was to get the service number off of the ecm. Then I took that ecm service number and searched for it on ebay. People selling that same ecm will usually list what other vehicles that ecm works on. Then I went to the u-pull&pay and got a tranny out of one of those vehicles. I do know that after 95 there is an extra pin in the main wiring harness that goes to the PWM. My 94 tranny didn't have that pin. Also try pulling the main wiring harness out of your tranny and with a mirror look down into the tranny and get the pin configuration. Make sure the one you get also has that same pin layout.

4l60e tranny swap

No the 4l60e is a electronic transmission you need to find a 700r4 transmission which are very common. Check with your local junk yards and are pretty easy to install. About a full days worth of work for a person with general know how of vehicles.

A buddy brought me his headache. Its a 1994 GMC jimmy with the 4.3 vortec 4X4 that had a 4L60E he swapped out the 4L60E for a 700R4 from an earlier chevy.the tranny modual plugs are totally different. How do...

The 700R4 is controlled by vacuum lines and throttle cable kick down linkage (TV) and need to be re calibrated to the engine as to being 4.3 or 5.0 to 5.7. Best thing to do is to get a transmission shop that knows how to custom install transmission like a speed shop. The TV cable adjustment on the 700R4 needs to be perfect. TV cable is used to set part throttle shift points, line pressure and if not set right will burn up the clutch plates due to low line pressure. Good luck and hope this helps. you going to need tools that most of us don't have, like to be able to measure and adjust the line pressure at different RPM. If you need more information, keep me posted and be glad to help.

1994 Chevy parts and Transmission

So your current transmission is a 4L60E. t is a very strong automatic. You can also convert to a 5 speed or utilize the 700R4 automatic that is non electronic. Hope this helps narrow your search. Please rate me highly.

Transmission lost fluid on the highway

What has probably happened is you have busted a tranny cooler line or transmission seal.
The reason your fluid is brownish black is due to running it with all the fluid coming out
and thus taking the life force out of the tranny, the black tint you are seeing is flakes
of your clutch packs inside the transmission that have worn prematuraly due to lack
of lubrication.Long story short, when you fix the leak, more than likely your tranny
will slip and warrant a rebuild or replacement. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i
hope this helps.
