Question about 1992 Mazda MX-5

1 Answer

1992 Mazda MX-5 Door handle problem.

Drivers door handle will not open from outside without a lot of effort. If I use the inner door handle opens fine. Locking mechanism is working fine, its just the silver exterior handle will not open door without trying for four to five times. Have lubricated as much of the locking mechanism without taking of the interior door panel [its glued on]. The silver exterior handle is sloppy compared to the passengers side. Any suggestions? Thanks Paul from NZ.

Problem fixed. Removed inner door panel and there is a large philips screw directly behind the door handle lever. This screw has a spring around it. The screw had come undone and caused the door handle to loose its tension. All fixed now. Thank you for your help. Cheers Paul.

You will have to take the panel off to see why the inner lock/activator isnt working properly, besides youll have to take it off to fix it anyway.Maybe as simple as a bent handle to lock rod being bent and no longer long enough to activate lock correctly.youll just have to look and see.Let me know what you find

I just obtained a 1989 Cadillac Deville...The drivers door wont open....Locks go up and down...trying to open it form the outside...there is no tension in the handle or from the handle inside either......I...

if you remove the cover that is behind the inside door handle and look you may see the arm that connects to the handle.if its connected then you will have to remove the inner door panel,if its come off the handle and you get a hold of it you can pull on it and the door should open.you have to be patient to remove the door panel with the door closed.you will need to remove some screws to loosen the panel from the steel door inner panel.(arm rest, cover behind the handle).pop up the power door/window switch control and remove the plug attached.pull out the inner door panel to unhook the clips around the outside edge of the panel, you will have to move the seat to get better access to some, then remove the panel and reach into the inner door and move the unlock arm to open the door.you move have clips that are broken that allowed the arms to come off that need replacing to fix the problem.

The driver's door won't open. It appears that the handle latch might be broken. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. All the other doors and trunk work from remote.

If the drivers door on your 2004 Mazda 6 does not open from the inside or the outside then chances are the lock/latch assembly is jammed or you might need to replace it. In order to get the door open the inside door trim will most likely need to be at least partially removed to access the inner workings of the door. This is no easy task as the panel is designed to be removed with the door open. If care and patience are used this can generally be done without major damage to the inside door trim panel.

How do I replace a '94 chev Astro outside drivers door handle

You first have to remove the inner door panel by taking the screws out of the inner handle and arm rest. the outer edges of the inner door panel either has screws or it has clips that can be pulled out. after you remove the panel you need to roll up the window and you will be looking at the back of the handle. simply un hook the clips that hold the lockrod and the inner opener rod and unbolt the outside door handle. reverse the prosses and walla.

How do I fix a broken outer door handle on he drivers side?

Is there anything connecting the handle to the door latch assembly? Is the lock cylinder in the key hole and secured? It just sounds like the linkage may have slipped off the door handle

Drivers door wont open

You need to remove the inner door panel (will have a couple screws in the inner door handle and push pins around the outside. Inside the door are thin metal rods connected by plastic connectors. Check all the connectors, especially at the inner and outer handles. If they both failed at the same time, I would suspect the latch itself.
