Toyota don't have to many problems with fuel pump.Did you check for sparks?Inspect all the fuses. Scan for codes. Air flow meter boot is week part. The spark plugs is good for 100'K.Replace with DENSO or NGK.

My 84 supra starts and then dies right after wards ... but if i start it and pump the gas itll stay on till i let go what can be the problemWhat's your problem?

It could be low fuel pressure, or a vac leak, or a problem with the idle air control valve. Also the mass air flow meter, or the cold start valve.
I would start with testing the fuel pressure and the mass air flow meter.

The mass air flow often goes bad on them. Did you have the vehicle scanned. Try unplugging the mass air flow and driving it. It is built into the air intake hose. If that does not change things, check the fuel pressure, and the throttle position sensor.

Hope this helped

A diagnostic scan is always a good place to start, even if there is no check engine light on. Ignition...are you getting fire to the spark plugs? Fuel pressure, fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, air filter not restricted? Battery fully charged, terminals clean and tight? These are a few basics needed for proper engine mangement.

Check the throttle cable to see if it's binding or catching on anything. If not, check the throttle body. If it's gummed up with carbon and not moving freely, you could be trying to add air that's simply not getting into the engine, while the computer throws a bunch of fuel in to match what it thinks it a ton of air.

Hope this helps.

94 yota pickup starts and idles breifly then dies

If it's not your fuel filter plugged , or fuel pump malfunction, then it is probably your Mass air flow sensor, or your coil pack etc. You'll have to see if you have spark or fuel first. One of them is missing.

93 toyota pickup no start

Check your airflow meter and wiring harness contacts for any shorts or corrosion, moisture, or worn wires or contact points. Check ground wires are in good shape with no worn or corroded contacts or seperated wires. Check you air filter. Sounds like you have timing, and fuel and spark. An air issue sounds like the culprit.

Troubleshooting 1988 Toyota Pickup No Start

If you have a tps and air flow meter you have a 22re fuel injection.
Check for codes by jumping TE1 and E1 or jumping diagnosis connector.

The 22re will run with out the tps(throttle position sensor) plugged in. But it will not run with the air flow meter unplugged. The air flow meter controls the fuel pumps voltage.
go to http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/AFM/index.shtml
This page tell you how to test those sensors. Then we can go from there.

The fuel pressure regulator may be shot also, but we will see.

I hope this was helpful.
