First check to see if you have spark at the sparkplug then if you have spark check your fuel pressure it should be between 44-54 psi with key on engine off also ,check fuel filter for restriction. If pressure is below 39 psi then replace fuel pump. But if you don't have spark at the plug then there is a ignition problem. ( coil, ignition coil pickup )
How about the pick up coil in the distributor? A trick we used to use back in the day was to tap the distributor housing with a hammer, key word tap. If the engine missed or stalled than the pick-up coil was replaced.
I have a 93 dodge dakota pick up. When I turn the key I get nothing, The radio and the lights work fine. I had starter checked and the battery changed, It will run if you push it to start but not with the key.
Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. Your theft light should go out. As long as the light is on your fuel system is disabled. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
I have a '99 dodge dakota, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual. While researching a no start problem ran across possible solution to this problem. If no guage lights show when key truned to on position then normally a bad ignition switch. With fully charged battery and working ignition switch guage lights should slight up then go out when ignition in "on" position. Try shaking the key back and forth.
