Question about 1991 Ford Aerostar Extended

1 Answer

How can I determine if coil pack on my 1991 Ford Aerostar needs replaced

I recently changed the spark plugs because the van was missing.  I didn't notice any improvement.  It runs really rough when it's cold but gets better as the motor warms up.  I just filled the gas tank so I don't think it is a fuel problem.  How can I check the coil pack? and/or what else should I look for.

it will not be a chain as you blew out the cylinders to get rid of the excess fuel by turning it over
no-- I would be looking for problem with the injector control, fuel pressure
if you have spark and compression then the thing missing is fuel

No fire to plugs on 1991 ford aerostar 4.o replaced crank sensor, coil pack and switch what else is there

If the engine cranks but has no spark, you need to know if the coil is getting voltage and a ground signal. The coil gets power from the ASD relay and a fuse.
Have you checked the compuer for trouble codes ?

Car does not seem to have spark.where is ignition coil car

There's a coil pack that usually sits right on top of the engine. Follow the spark plug wires. Usually the coil pack won't fail completely you might lose 2 cylinders but not all 6. Are you getting a check engine light? It could be the cam or crankshaft sensor, they send signals to the coil pack via the power train control modual.
