Question about 1997 Subaru Outback

1 Answer

1998 subaru outback

The hazard flasher unit needs to be replaced. I've taken the knee bolster off, removed the hood release lever, but I can't get the electrical connector unplugged, nor can I get to the flasher retaining screw to remove it. Any suggestions?

The plug has a little release in the middle of either the top or bottom that you press down and then pull out to release. As for the screw issue, I couldn't even see that there was a screw let alone get to it. I just firmly taped the new one to the side of the old one. Redneck engineering..

No signal lights or hazard lights. Checked fuses and bukbs, they are all good.

Check the flasher relay under the left side of dash board. You will have to remove the knee bolster to access the relay. Hope this helps

Need to locate signal light flasher 2001 dodge intrepid

If you mean the flasher, which makes the turn signals and hazards to blink, then...

It's a combo flasher which operates both the turn signals and the hazard lights. To access the combo flasher with ease remove the drivers knee bolster and then remove the brake release cable end from the handles notch, then disconnect the harness from the trunk release switch. Next there will be a reinforcement panel, remove that as well. Finally locate and replace the combo flasher from behind this panel. It is a black box that has a harness connected to it with a pink wire, a black and yellow wire, a red wire, a dark blue and pink wire, and finally a black wire. To help locate the flasher either turn the turn signal on or apply the hazards and listen for its location.

WHERE ARE THE FLASHING LIGHTS FUSES OR SIGNAL LIGHTS IN THE DIAGR

From my Haynes repair manual "the turn signal/hazard flasher is located on the backside of the left instrument panel fuse/relay box"
in the picture they have removed the drivers side knee bolster (if you remove it, the module is in the window, you'll see,) and it is a square looking black module, (not the old silver round type,) plugged into the back of the fusebox. It is above and to the left of the brake release lever.
Just reach up under the dash and pull it out.

Running lights won't go out on my '94 Loyale

I found this from another owner with a similar problem. I plan to pull the 15 amp flasher fuse first, then try to replace the hazard flaher unit relay. The hazard flasher unit needs to be replaced. I've taken the knee bolster off, removed the hood release lever, but I can't get the electrical connector unplugged, nor can I get to the flasher retaining screw to remove it. Any suggestions?
