Try checking these things out:
chec the wire connections at the distributor, coil, altenator
check your fuel pressure
check for vacuum leaks on all lines and at the throttle body and the intake manifold
also check your distributor cap to see if it has a crack in it

1989 Bronco II smells like gasoline after I drive it. Any idea what is causing that?

If this vehicle has fuel injection which i think it could as cars in europe were fitted with cats from 92 but this is a 89 --but its american and if built to conform with californian regs then it could have a cat and fuel injection .if so check the O2 sensors as one of these faulty will allow the engine to overfuel .in all honesty i would need my head in the engine to know exactly whats wrong

My 1989 bronco II quit running going down the road and now it will not start back

Check all connections. Battery cables, switch to starter cables, make sure they are all tight. Make sure the starter is engaging and disengaging. Check the belts for looseness. The fact that you were driving when it happened say`s something is loose!

I suggest you do a fault code test on the engine control module, it is called an EECIV KOEO fault test. The instructions are at the link.
