Question about 2002 Volvo S60

Starting problems Car won't start. Battery appears to be ok. Tried to jump to know avail. Light and other electrical seem ok. Replaced solenoid fuse, nothing. Seemed to be a repeat problem where I switched on/off the alarm a couple of times and then it worked. But not this time. Maybe the starter?? Is there something else I should check?? Help!!!

I am having the same problem, except when I turn the key forward it stops on the II position. The key won't turn to the III position to turn over. It seems to be locking. I can not shift the car out of park and try to move it back to check the locking mechanism.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be the clutch interlock switch mounted under the clutch pedal. A combination of the clutch pedal and switch mount being there for 15 years and had bent just a little not allowing the switch to be fully depressed and my floormats getting behind the clutch pedal not allowing the pedal to push the switch all the way. You can press the switch by hand and turn the key (making sure the truckStarting problems - icon1.png is in neutral of course). If it starts reliably every time you found the problem. I adjusted the switch out by disconnecting the wire to the switch and loosening the 14mm nut behind the switch and turning the switch out a couple of turns. When moved out a bit and keeping the floormat from behind the clutch pedal, voila, starts every time. This fix came after a new battery, new starter, new battery cables and still the intermittent no crank was present. Start with the cheap/free stuff first and move on from there if needed :-)

Check your owners manual about a possible security system issue. Some vehicles (Saturn) loose a ground to the starter relay and dome light when it's armed. The reset is in the manual. Just an idea.

Why won't my 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara start?

ill answer for NO ELECTRICAL POWER :
sure and is easy with any DMM meter, got one? any $20 DMM.
my guess;1
engine will not crank
dash lamps out.
head lights out. dead.
post systems of electrical system , all parts that work and those that dont work, and problem is easy.
cleaned battery terminals.
tried borrowed battery that reads, 12.6vdc ? (charged is 12.6)
2012 that is in warranty car.... ?
my guess on 2012
jumping a car, that is battery jump starting.
a battery can short, and no jump start on earth will start shorted battery in car. but does lay down some big sparks, or burns up cheap walmart cables.
if the car will not crank, say just that, my starter motor will not crank
jump started from live running other car.
if true then make sure headlights work , if they dont work fix that first.
HL must always work, even keys in pocket.
best is to put a fully charged battery in the car, jump starting can cause
surges that can damage sensitive electronic$$$, do jumps as a desperate measure,
with a charged battery,
1: Head lights work, no fix that , use voltmeter
2: cranks robustly.
no , wiggle shifter lever, (on A/T cars the park switch blocks cranking) On M/T the clutch blocks cranking.
with any dMM
measure battery voltage before crank and during.
12.6v good. reseted.
cranking.
0 to 10v bad (weak battery or shorted starter motor)
11 and above good. and must crank, if not , starter is bad.
to prove starter is bad, check voltage at starter solenoid coil wire lug.
it must be at 11v cranking , below 8v it chatters, and fails.
if at 0v cranking this lug that means the Key start line is failing.
A/T switch not closes, or bad ignition switch.

My 1993 Ford Aerostar Van won't start without a jump and when it does it won't stay running. Is it a fuse or the aternator?

jump start vehicle warm it up so its idle then disconnect the negative battery terminal ,if engine stops then the alternator is no good ,if it keeps running then renew the battery

Won't start

How about corroded battery cables (internal)

Fusible Link wiring corroded & open circuit, does
everything electrical work except the starting circuit?

Turn key & have power to starter solenoid ?
Neutral Switch !
Ignition Switch !

Tough to guess without wiring diagrams,
to see where to start testing

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

Car died at light, tried to start then clicking noise. car started on a jump. then replaced the battery & altenator. later on driving car again. car dies at light tried to start then clicking noise...

Did anybody bother to actually TEST the charging and starting system or are we just replacing parts? This whole thing COULD be caused by something as simple as a bad battery cable connection.
