There should be 2 or 3 screws in the bottom of the storage bin. the black trim around your ashtray, ac knobs, and radio is most likely one solid peice this will need removed as well. be gentle that peice is easy to break. at the bottom of that area there is a metal brace you must remove. then you should be able to lift the whole center up and out

The light has gone out in my shifter box and I can't see when it is dark what do i do . The car was just in the body shop for painting as the hood was damaged and the windshield replaced - could this be...

Center Console Shifting?
You can take apart that console with relative ease to gain access to the light bulb to remove and replace it. Most of the center console snaps-together or is screwed together. Remove the center console glove box by removing the metal screws/nuts. It takes about 15-minutes.
The Light Bulb itself should have markings on the base of the bulb as to what size and type. If not take it with you when you go to the autoparts store.
Also your Owners Manual may have (but I doubt it) what size and type bulb listed.

Do you have to take dash out to replace heater core in 2001 chevy pickup

Yes you do. Not a quick job. If you have a center consol you will also need to remove the seats to remove the center consol, so you can remove the dash.

Taking out my old radio and putting the exact same model in

You have to remove the top of center console to access the radio. Open the center console box, there is a small tab at the front. Pull up on the tab, you will see 2 screws. Remove them. Look to see where the center console top fits under the radio. Check for more bolts...Pull up on the console, and pull it back. After the console top is out, you will see another fascia tab. Remove it. If my memory serves me correctly, the A/C control and the radio both come out at the same time. Remove the 2 side vents and then you will see the bolts that holds the radio assembly. Note that the vents are in there TIGHT, be careful when you pry them out, they may break.

Clock bulb replacement

Sisters car has the same thing. I don't think they have a bulb to light up the clock. I'm not too sure. I might try again I had to repair the aircon switch before.

How to remove the clock.

You have to remove the center console to remove the clock. (Manual car version)

-Unscrew gear knob.
-Pull out gear shifter cover surround.
-Remove cover plate with small flat blade in little tray aft of the gear stick.
-Remove 2 screws revealed by cover.
-Remove 2 screws 1 on either side of the AFT (not middle) end of the center console.
-Remove aft half of center console.
-Remove 2 screws 1 on either side fwd of air con controls.
-Remove 1 screw underneath ash tray.
-Remove hazard switch and other switch next to clock using a flat blade to pry them out.
-Unclip switches disconnect plugs.
-Remove 2 screws revealed behind switches.
-Take your time to remove fwd console / dash trim (extra screws might be there to take out).
-Disconnect clock plug.
