Windscreen washer problem

I cannot get the windscreen washer to work and want to initially check the fuse. Water is in the tank and there is no noise from the washer motor. Please tell me which fuse in which fusebox. Any other suggestions?

Go and invest in a 12 volt test light. They can be purchased at any parts store. Attach alligator clip of light to a good (any) ground. Have someone activate the washer pump while you pierce the wire with the ice pick end of the test light. One wire is the ground the other is the 12 volt feed to the pump. The ground wire will be black or brown. You might want to just check both wires. If voltage is present the pump motor is bad and will need to be replaced. If there is no voltage you have an open circuit between the fuse and pump motor. Run the test first and let me know what you find.

Windscreen washer not working

Most likely the pump (motor) is gone and needs replacement. However, it is worth checking that fuse allocated to windscreen washer is intact. Furthermore, you may also need to check the wiring for flow of current at lever end (handle on the steering wheel) and wires connecting to pump on the water reservoir.

Would my windscreen water pump have a dedicated fuse that may have blown?

sorry to hear about your back, back problems and working on cars are never a great combo. This is a simple fix, if you can purchase a simple voltage meter it will help even more. if there is 12v going to the pump then its The Pump. since you say there are no noises coming from the washer jug then that eliminates a broken/disconnected tube. If you think your fuse is blown, well thats an easy fix. But something caused it. So if the fuse is blown look for a "ground fault". Explenation; everything inand on your car must be grounded to the chasis, when you loose that connetion this Will Not blow your fuse, only a corroded/poor connection. This causes heat and heat will pop fuses and sometimes take out the component you are working on. recap: 1. buy a 12v meter - this is your diagnostics tool. 2. check the fuse - if blown/popped do not replace until you check the connection on the motor. if there is no corrosion your good to put the fuse in. 3. if the fuse isnt popped, your meter can test for power to the motor. if power is there the motor is bad. replace it and then check your tubing.
Good luck

Hi, First check that you have wash liquid in tank. second make sure that it will not freeze by putting alcohol in your mix of water and soap. You can buy it already mixed at most service stations. Check pump for corosion on contacts.
Good luck.

Water light keeps coming on. Someone told me that there is two place for the water but I can only find one and the windscreen washer one 1990 Townace extra super 8 seater

there are actually two places for water, one is the windscreen washer while the other is a tank where water flows to from the radiator when it is heated so much that it wants to bubble out. as for the light, ensure that the tank for the windscreenwasher is not leaking and also check the fuse for the dashboard indicator lights, you can trace this from the sketch on the cover panel of the fuse box. i hope this helps you out. please remember to post a comment for further information
