My 07 Colorado started giving me problems. I parked it and 10 mts later it would not start. The engine cranks with full strength but it wont start. 20 mts later I came back and it started like nothing. This was happening only once a week but it started doing it more often it usually only did it when the engine was hot. Today the engine was cool and it did not start.
Security lockout on the fuel. 10 mins later it will start
I had this problem with my 91 GMC try replacying the igniton controll module.

I have the same problem on my 2007 colorado pickup, 4 cylinder, 2.9 liter engine, with about 52,000 miles on it. It happend once when I let my truck sit for a week and recently when the engine was cold. In both cases I removed the air cleaner and shot some ether/start fluid into the air inlet. The engine started instantly in both cases. I also thought that maybe I had a vapor lock problem, with my locking gas cap, so I removed the cap and fiddled with it to see if something was sticking. I also thought maybe in the winter, my low test fuel was not vaporizing correctly in the engine, so I switched to super/premium hytest fuel I did this recently when the engine would not start, just for a possible cause/cure. I also put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank, because I thought maybe
something was causing incorrect fuel atomization with the injectors. Next I want to put some lubricant in the fuel tank (like Z MAX or Marvelous Mystery Oil) to see if maybe something is sticking in the fuel pump. In any case when my truck cranks and won't start, I remove the air cleaner and shoot in some starter fluid in the engine and I know my engine will start. It works every time.
P.S. I run the Bosch 4 prong Platinum spark plugs. They have about 50,000 miles on them and I want to put in a new set. I also run the 50.00 dollar K&N lifetime air filter. I'm actually on my second one because I didn't want to clean the first one. I run pure synthecitc oil at 8.00 dollars per quart and drive about 15,000 mile before the oil turns from clear color to black. I run a very expensive oil filter which cost about 14.00 dollars. I want to put in a new battery for the heck of it and I want to put in new HP coils just to see if the cars runs better with High Performance Coils. I might even try some expensive spark plug wires, just to make it easier for my engine to start or maybe give a little bigger spark to the plugs. I just feel fuel injection is not the best system when you start the engine. I feel the gas has to be very volatile to start the engine. Ether or starting fluid ignite very easily.

Could possibly be a fuel pump issue as well.

I park and it's any ones guess if it'll start when I try it again. But after about 30 mins it starts like nothings wrong. then I may not see the problem for days before it happens again.
I have the same issue with a 2004 Colorado. It sounds like it will start (turns over fine), but nothing happens. This only happens occassionally and always when hot. Let it sit for 15 minutes and it starts right up.
its not the fuel pump, or the battery, or the fuel pump relay i believe it is electrical demons the starter, or the ignition by the way the starter is near impossible to get too
I have a 2006 with an I5 that has been doing it off and on for the last year and a half. I received 2 sets of keys with fobs for it when I bought it. I have used one set for the last 7.5 years, I recently switched to the other key (Dec 2013) so far no problems, starts every time and I notice the newer key goes on tighter and is not a loose. Try your other key and see of this cures the issue.
Had the same issue with my 2006. I received 2 sets of keys and fobs when I bought it new and have been using the same 1 set for 8 years, recently (December 2013) I switched to the other key, starts up every time, even noticed the key fits tighter. Try the other key set and see if this cures it.
