You shouldn't have to but might , you could try to take the bolts that bolt the trans to the cross member and then lift on the trans and see if there is enough room to pull it out and get it back in without a problem , otherwise it might not pass the inside filter

Remove pan and change the gasket. While youre doing that if its been a while you already have the pan off why not change the tranny filter too, it just pops off and new one pops in. Fill with new tranny fluid, let it warm up and make sure the oil is in the cross hatched area on the dipstick when idling in park and tranny is warm

Oil pan removal?

Im not sure if you are talking about the motor pan or the tranny pan. But I have lifted the motor and tranny together on a vehicle to change the motor pan and mounts before. I remember having to loosen the fan shroud. Undo linkage on the tranny and make sure the shifter boots were loose. The key for me was going real slow with the crane and having extra eyes around. It was a pain but it worked out.

What are you asking hear, if you know wear its leaking then you have to bite the bullet and fix it, there is no easy way, the only other way is you have to take the cross member out and drop the tranny down to get a clear shot at it its up to you.

Try a tranny service change a place that changes the filter the pan gasket and fluid not some of these quick places that just drain a couple quarts out of the tranny lines and thats it that wont help but a complete tranny service should help.

Shift solenoid

you can change the solenoids you should be able to drop the tranny pan and they are right there but you might want to unbolt the cross member that holds the tranny up so the pan comes down easier or you chance breaking the solenoids if you try to force the pan out, and i belive there are 4 solenoids in there

1999 dodge dakota manual transmission wont come out

If the tranny housing is aluminum and the locating pins are steel they will corrode creating a bond.
It will come apart providing all bolts are removed and not easily!
When replacing tranny put antiseize on all aluminum and steel contact points to prevent future corrosion.
I hope this helps.

Transmission mount

Its bout the same for all rear wheel. Place a jack to support the transmission, remove the bolts from the mount and frame. If the tranny on a cross member then you should be able to remove the cross member by 4 bolts, then remove the mount from tranny and cross member.
