I agree with emissionwiz. After 10 years working in a Nissan dealership, I've heard lots of stories how traction control systems (tcs) has helped people avoid accidents.

I was told at a Nissan factory training session on the 350 Z when they first came out that you could take one around a 90 degree turn at 90 MPH and not leave the road...

Most tcs systems use a combination of throttle control and individual brakes to help control skid and loss of traction.

By the way, to turn the system on, the light will be off... the light is only on when the system is disabled.

How do you reset tcs/slip light on a 1999 infinit q45

Hi there:

Pull the codes to get started. Normla process is when the slip light will flash on and then go off. TCS is your Traction Control System. It is normal for it to go off If the rear wheels are slipping. You may have worn tires or you are driving on ice or snow. Are you on a slippery surface when this happens? You can always shut the system down by pressing the TCS off button in the center console.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

TCS light and Brake light stay on.

The main reason the TCS light is on is because there is a problem with the main brake system. The traction control system uses the hydraulic brakes to help keep the car on the road in a skid or other event.
If the main brake system is faulty, the TCS can't do its job.
The hydraulic brake system may be working fine in your case, but the TCS does not know that.
I wonder if that low fluid switch can be bought separately ??

Why the tcs ligth turn on when i acelerate the car in over drive?

If you are accelerating the car fast enough to cause wheel slip, the Traction Control System (TCS) is kicking in to keep you from spinning out and the light is simply telling you that the TCS is taking control. This is normal operation as long as the light goes out as soon as the conditions for wheel slippage have subsided. (Heavy acceleration, wet pavement, ice and snow, etc.)

1990 volvo 740gl far left corner of dashboard has a yellow light thats on constantly. a diagram of a car with a zigzag road. whats that mean.

Either you have a problem with the TCS (Traction Control System), or the TCS is switched off. Most cars with TCS have a button on the shift or the dash labeled "TCS" or "TCS OFF". Find the button, and press it with the car running in gear. If the light goes out, problem solved.
If you cannot manually disengage TCS (no button), or when you press the TCS button the light flashes, check all your brakes and make sure none are dragging or worn out. Also make sure all your tires are properly inflated and balanced, and none are worn out.
TCS works by controlling your brakes on slippery roads and will dynamically apply the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent a skid, even when your foot is not on the brake pedal. During normal driving, the TCS light is out and will either come on briefly or flash when it is active and preventing your car from going into a skid. When the light is on constantly, the system is disabled- either because it was shut off by the driver pressing the TCS (or TCS OFF) button, or because the system has detected a brake problem and automatically disabled it for safety reasons. Worn or dragging brakes, a tire that is flat or worn, or even a wheel that is badly out of balance will cause the system to disable itself, and a severe wheel alignment problem will also.

Engine light came on and TCS light what is it

the TCS light is Traction Control System. It works with the anti-lock brake system. When the computer senses wheelspin, it rapidly pulse-brakes that wheel to keep the spinning to a minimum.

If both the check engine light and TCS light are on, you have a trouble code waiting to be read. Major auto parts stores will read your codes for free.

The TCS light came on and the car started jerking especially at stops. The light would go off for a while after restarting the car but the same problems would happen and the light would eventually come...

The TCS stands for Traction Control System, I believe. The TCS is controlled by inputs from the wheel speed sensors. If you have a bad sensor, then a new hub may be required to repair it.

The check engine light may be a sepawrate problem. Have the codes scanned for both the Anti lock braking sytem, TCS, and the check engine light.

Sometimes it will require a separate scanner for the TCS/ABS vs. the Check Engine light.

Good luck on this diagnosis and repair.

Tcs/abs lights keep coming on after I had the two sensers replaced on the frount wheels allso now the break light comes on wile driving. the car is a xg350L

The tcs/abs and brake lights are all on the same warning circuit. First i would check the brake fluid level and make sure it is topped off, next i would have the problem codes read and see if it helps you pinpoint the issue. If the light sometimes come on and sometimes are off i would suspect connection problems in the wiring. hope this helps

TCS and check engine light keeps coming on. We have had the code and it was the ERG value. We replaced and lights are still coming on.

You may have more than one code.
You may need a ABS sensor if the TCS light is coming on.
Check the codes again.

Trac off light comes on a 2003 pontiac grand am

This is the TCS or Traction Control System. It helps keep the vehicle from being able to get stuck by forcing the torque to either tire. Usually there is a switch either on the dash or on the shifter that says TCS or TRAC press the switch and it should go off.
