Be certain the motor is bad. In 99% of Audi's of this vintage, the wiring harness that runs from the driver's side armrest to under he dashboard is frayed and shorting to ground where it passes thru the door/frame opening. Grab it and move it as much as possible to see if the window works. This harness was too short from the factory and causes various window problems.

Howto repair left back window

Get a tool for removing the inner door panel. Determine which tool is used to remove door handle / armrest (screwdriver or Torx or hex head screw) and get that tool. Remove door handle, then door panel. Once that is removed, you can determine whether nylon tape needs to be replaced or if motor assembly has come loose and needs to be reattached or if the window is simply off its track (if it is, you should already know this because it will drop down by itself). A video is at How To Install Replace Rear Power Window Regulator ...

If you want to have someone else repair the window, and if it has come off its track, use some clear packing tape (lengthwise) to secure the window to the door until you can get it repaired.

My passenger window is stuck down. how do i get the door panel off to take a look at it

get a removal tool from an auto parts store.
Or you can use a flat bladed screwdriver if you are careful and lift the push in retainers one by one until you have the door panel loose.
The window door motor will be easy to spot when you have the door panel off.

How to properly remove door panels on my 1989 gmc suburban

Remove the window crank handle (by removing the clip...assuming that it's a manual window). Remove the screws in the arm rest. Depending on the options (full panel, half panel, choo choo custom, etc...) the screws half-way down the door (standard package) the one up by the vent window, and carefully pop the clips along the front, back, and bottom. Lift to remove from the window edge and remove.

How to remove an exterior door handle Audi A8 2008

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can pull back the weather seal and disconnect the linkage and remove the bolts securing the outer door handle

Unable to remove adriver's side door panel containing electrical

You have to remove the door panel. To do so, you need to remove all screws visible. Next, remove the panel by popping off the door panel itself. You need a tool sold at the auto parts store....looks like a funky type of screwdriver. You slip it in between the door and the door panel and pop the plastic "buttons" loose. Make sure you look for all the screws so you are not yanking on a fastner that is still attached.

Then you have to lift up and wiggle at the same time.

A4 96' back window slipped down

Removal is actually very easy and only requires a philips screwdriver and about five minutes. Open the door and look at the top of the door panel at each end - there is a screw at each top corner - one that screws in at the front, pointing toward the rear of the car, one screws in at the back pointing toward the front. Remove those. Then, inside the handle that is used to pull the door shut, there's one screw there, at the back of the inside of the handle. Remove that. That frees up the trim piece that forms the inside of the pull handle. Slide it down and pull it out (it's kind of tough to do, so if it's not coming right off, don't worry, just pull down harder and it will). When you remove that, it exposes a fourth screw that anchors the door panel to the door frame. Take that out, and then the door panel lifts up and off the door. Be sure that you push the door lock down before lifting the door panel off, so that it's easier to remove the panel. When you start to reinstall it, pull the lock shaft up so that it's easier to align it with the hole in the top of the door panel, and reinstall the four screws you removed.

Can't take off the door panels to fix window.

Hello Nufo :

I like to start by having a large piece of cardboard labeled for the door panel that i am removing . I use the cardboard to put all of the screws that are removed for easy reassembly .

You will need basic tolols like a phillips head screwdriver and blade screwdriver . If the are magnetic that would be a plus . you will also need special tools like a " Door Panel Trim removal tool /set " Or a " Trim Removal tool Set " . Or Panel clip removal Pliers

You will jave to remove the screws holding the armrest and power window switch(s) . You will also have to remove the screws holding the chrome like plastic of the interior door opener ( it looks a little square )

Also remove the screw on - door button/ usually " chrome looking " that goes up and down when you pull the door opener .

Once all of the screws are removed . I would check again and there is usually 1 or 2 more that you didn't see at first .

I would then disconnect the wiring for the window /power door lock switches .

Using the special tools listed above you will use the " Trim removal tool to remove the " clips " which are holding the panel to the door . The clips are located near the outer enge of the door panel every couple of inches .. Follow the instructions that come with the trim removal tools and pull gently .

Chances are 1 or more clips might break bue to their age and possible crystalization .

Lastly with all clips removed , You will have to lift the door panel up. Lift from the bottom up because it has a lip on top that is sitting on a seal like lip . It wouldn't be a bad idea to use a pair of jersy gloves when working on car doors .

Good Luck and I hope that this info has been of help to you .
