It would help if you identified the make and model of the vehicle in question. Add it via comment to the original question. Car heaters don't have a separate water supply, the move heat from the engine to the cockpit by circulating hot coolant from the car cooling system. Most vehicles add coolant via the radiator or overflow reservoir.

Heater control unit at fault could just be stuck check on heater matrix pipes in engine bay for unit work heater control from inside to see if there is any movement on unit can try moving by hand to see how badly it has stuck

Thermostat Not working, no heat/blower

Double check Problem: Thermostat is different from blower Motor problem. I changed [ on passenger side interior ], the RESISTOR PACK for Fan speed then the Cockpit Fan which is behind the Glove Compartment. My Fan was emitting a burning smell then stopped completely. Used Haynes Manual for replacement instructions. Test OK

If you you are running it in Defrost the A/C will turn on to dry the air thus turning on the Rad fan also check to see if your A/C switch is turned on.

If you can get into to cockpit then just push the button under the steering wheel to the left; it opens the trunk. If that was your only set of keys, call a locksmith, get into the cockpit hit the button.

Radiator flush

open the cockpit on the bottom of radiator,take radiator cap off,turn garden hose on put in top of radiator start car run for a few minutes when fluids run clear from cockpit shut off hose let drain,close cockpit ,fill with anti-freeze and water about 50/50

Hot to stop engine heat from entering cockpit

The control switch for temperature is faulty, cable must have come off, leaving the heater core flap open. Make sure all cables are connected to the climate control switches. If it isn't anchored properly, it will move freely and not controlling the flaps or valve to position. Cable locks do come off and fall around the assembly, once that happens the cable doesn't have any counter resistance of it's position and move from it's own slack making it useless..

My 2001 ford explorer with auto temp controls is only blowing cold air when the heater is on and temp set at 90. There is plenty of water in the system so i am not sure what it could be other than the...

1suspect thermostat either primary for engine or secondary for heating system if fitted.
2 suspect that heat valve maybe jammed in the closed position so the mechanism can not open the flow to the cockpit.
3 suspect air in the system ensure the sytem is fully bled so the water can flow freely.
