I am having trouble with my 1990 Mercury Cougar window. The power window was running and would not go down so I forced it down half way. The motor is running but nothing is moving... Since I pushed it down...

You'll have to replace the regulator/motor assembly with a new one if the mechanism was damaged, which sounds like it was. Plastic parts break on these systems. If it is snowing and you don't have the resources to replace it right now, try to tape some plastic over the window using duct tape. But, this is only a temporary solution.

Power window on 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7 will not work. There is a clicking noise but the window will not go up or down.

The gears on the drive unit eventually weaken and strip. Buy a replacement at a junkyard or off eBay (sometimes available there). Some auto parts stores carry them. Don't buy one at the dealer - way too pricey. The door panel mus come off (inside). This is medium to difficult as a DIY project.

What fuse controls driver side power window?

If the other window works fine then it is not your fuse. Chances are that your driver's window has an "auto down" feature. There is a relay inside the driver's side door that controls this feature. If the relay is bad then the window will not work. Solution 1) replace the relay. It cost about $50 from the dealer. Solution 2) remove the wire harness from the relay and "jumper" the plug to bypass the relay...this will allow you window to go down, without the "auto down" feature.

1995 Mercury Cougar Door Panel Removal

This nearly drove me crazy on our 1994 Cougar.
First remove the electric switch cover(window and mirror controls). Just pops out with a pry. Remove the harness attachments You will see a single screw into the door holding a bracket between door pad and door frame. Remove it.
Second, remove the door lamp plastic cover at the bottom rear of the door. You will find a second screw in there on the upper right corner. Remove it and you are ready. Pull the whole door pad upward and it comes right off. No popem plastic clips or anything else. Just 3 or 4 quarter circle retainers that pop over into the door when you push the pad back down
