I have a 85 chevy k-10 4 spd manual 4wd 350 What type of trans fluid to i use, will Castrol DEX/Merc Domestic Multi Vehecle ATF be ok to use?? Also do i just fill it to where it starts seeping out the...

DO NOT use any kind of ATF in your transmission. Manual transmissions back then used gear oil. You should be using 80W oil in there. You likely won't be able to get straight 80W so 80-90W or 75-80W would be okay, any gear oil in the 70-90W range. My service manual says that a GM 4 speed will use 4 US quarts if it's totally empty. Yes you fill it until oil starts to seep out the fill hole. Hope this helps.

What kind of oil is used in a manual transaxel

The manual transmission in your car uses Chrysler type ATF+4 automatic transmission fluid, they have not used gear lube for years now. The ATF+4 easies shifting effort and increases transmission life.

What type of transmission fluid does a 97 cougar xr7 v6 take?

Manual Transmission - uses Dextrin II or Mercian type fluid. A 85W/90 gear oil may be used with the T500 trannie in very warm climates or if gear/bearing noise is excessive.

1997 Automatic transmission uses Mercon/Dexron II

Just to be clear. What is the engine oil capacity on 97 kick sport JX? The owners manual says 5.2L. I ask because the fuel tank capacity is listed incorrectly (says 70L but is really 55 !) Just in case...

A Vitara in Australia had either a 1.6 or 2.0L 4 cyl, or a 2.0L V6 in it. I vaguely remember the fuel tank being 70L in the LWB V6, and the oil capacity about 5.5L. It sounds like you have the specs for the V6 rather than a 1.6L or 2.0L.

How much oil and what kind of oil

your owners manual should have something in the index such as fluid capacities that will tell you how much and usually what type too. if not its usually stamped on the oil fill cap. usually is either 10w30 or 5w30 some people choose based on the season of the year. 5w30 is usually better for winter time. 4 cylinder usually 4-4.5 quarts v6 is usually 4.5-5 (all the ones i have owned was 5)
