Describe a little more in depth what happens when you try to put the car in gear. Right now it is kinda wide open to the problem it could be an issue with the clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder, or the syncros in the transmission itself.

Change heater core

if nothing else was done to it and b4 the initial repairs it was starting fine, than it is obvios that you have mised some wires connection after putting the dash off and back on. there is all the main harnesses are located including the 1 to ECU and also wires that are going to the starter motor from your ignition lock. also you mite have an allarm or immoboliser that now have to be resset.. G/luck

My car wont shift out of 2nd gear.the shifting handle is sloppy and the clutch is working fine

if the clutch really is working, (lever at bell moves 3/4")
by fine, my guess, is you can take off from dead stop in2nd, right>?
then its a bad shifter. tip.
or linkage (end tranny extension housing)
or transmission actual core.(shift rails, or forks) or worse.
you do know ,that you can disconnect the linkage and test tranny.
by hand,
key off
leakage off
shift to neutral (read the FSM or alldata.com) for how. under M/T sections.
then key on start engine,clutch depressed, the lift pedel
car moves its stuck in 2nd, of not bad linkage.
can do all gears that way, use 2 people and do not stand infront of car doing test.
or put the front wheels up on stands. but do not get near them.
while engine is running.
btw some shifters have plastic parts that go bad in the shifter tip.

or ,
jack up car in front, can you now shift car in to neutral or any gear?
linkage tests.
remove shifter housing and below see the shifter, H pattern
sifter box mechanism.
see that. you can shift that by hand with any small wrench or
large screwdriver, if the works the parts on the end of the shifter
handle main shaft tip are bad.

So i parked my car yesterday and took the key out to find out park, but reverse. now i cant start my car or change the gears! i can still put the keys in and out and turn it but the car wont start or shift...

Put the key in, turn it forward 2 clicks like normal. Make sure you push the brakes all the way down and then try to shift the gear to park. Ya, cars wont start in gear, they made that way. If it still wont go in gear, try turning the steering wheel left & right. Sometimes the wheel lock can mess with ya. If not still, you need to call a mechanic. Cuz actually, if you were in reverse instead of park, the key should have never came out. Also make sure the key is in ALL the way.

No dash lights windows wont go up or down car wont even attempt to start could it be the fuses dealing with the starter relay cause i hear a clickin sound from the fuses underneath the wheel left side with...

Relays will click when they're getting power to initiate them. They may not be getting power from their main source. Check under hood for a set of fusible links, if all your small fuses in fuse box are good.

Suzuki sidekick clutch problem

Check the cable clearance. Too much clearance will cause clutch slippage or total clutch disengagement. Adjust the cable so that the clutch pedal will be hard to press by hand .5 to .75 inch from its initial point.

5th gear with 1996 VW Polo

hi mandy
im dave
if it only revs when you put it in 5th gear then it is not in fifth gear. it may look like it but it is not. try moving the gear selector from fourth into neutral releasing the clutch fully then applying the clutch and initiating fifth gear. if that does not work try placing it into one of the other gears first without releasing the clutch and then selecting fifth.
you should be fine driving in four gears as long as you dont travel on the audobahn or at speeds like your on the audobahn. Just watch your redline. try not to go past it. i think it is actually better for your car to drive at higher revolutions than lower as it cleans out your combustion chamber of carbon. on the other hand it is ******* your engine to drive in the red line constantly.
but 3000 rpm in 4th gear probably has you driving 130km/hr (82mph) which should be sufficient and your redline probably does not start until somewhere between 4-5k

Car wont start

Hi,

Initially, it might be the starting motor / solenoid or the ignition switch.

A backgrounder on the starter system. The starter system is initiated at the ignition switch when the key is turned to start. At this point, the ignition switch then provides +12VDC to a starter relay (if the vehicle has got one) but more often straight to the starting solenoid. The relay is but a remote switch with slightly higher amperage capacity. The starter relay then engages and supplies +12VDC to the staring solenoid. The starting solenoid then performs two (2) functions. It provides the switching action (hundreds amps) from the battery heavy cable to the actual starter motor. The solenoid likewise pushes a small pinion gear along the shaft of the starter motor to engage the ring gear. The ring gear is of course on the edge of the flywheel which in turn is attached to the crankshaft.

Starter system problems could be corrected by:
1. check battery, battery cables and connections;
2. charge the battery if required;
3. clean brushes and guides of brush holders of the starter motor;
4. clean the commutator and commutator segments;
5. check/replace the armature or field coils if determined to be defective;
6. in some extreme cases it could be the drive pinion or the flywheel gear ring is defective.
7. often it is the big switch that the solenoid activates that looses contacts causing no +12V internally to the motor.
8. Most likely would be a defective starter relay or the IGN switch itself. Relative to this, you might try and check the connectors/terminals and electrical joints.

In the picture below, the upper portion is the starter solenoid while the one below it is the actual starter.

Given the amount of work to overhaul a starter, you might consider just replacing it.

Additionally, it is worth to mention that there are some alarm/security systems that does this exactly.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Transmission

Have him ensure that EVERYTHING lines up EXACTLY just right. It helps to try to put the transaxle back in the right spot if it is actually in gear....... he can actually also try to have someone just tap the key to turn it over a bit as he tries to put it back in. This may line it all back up right.
