The tanks have to be removed in order to change the fuel float sensors.

The hard to start issue could be related to a fuel filter that is full of sediment. The fuel filter could be in the engine compartment before the intake to the engine, but it is more likely an inline filter after the fuel pump on the frame rail. Change the filter and see if that help.

You need to check fuel pressure at the intake manifold for each tank, and see if you have a failing fuel pump. (Each tank should have it's own pump)

I have a 1994 Ford F150 XLT with duel fuel tanks! I have a full tank in the front tank, but when hit the switch for that tank, the truck goes dead! What is the cause of this?

it is hard to say for sure but thhe switch could be bad and the way every thing runs through the computer it turns off(so to speak)instead of smoking the computer.also check wireing undertruck on frame rail by front gas tank for a wore spot shorting out the system.hope this helps.

With duel tanks wat fuel pump do i need

Not sure about on that vehicle, but I ALWAYS have a fuel pump on EACH tank, and switch between them.

That way if you lose a pump for some reason you will always have a "backup" pump you can transfer to the full tank.

Front fuel tank will not work

You have duel tanks with a fuel pump in each tank. You also have a fuel pump on the frame rail after the "tank selector". This device only holds a fuel filter that protects the main fuel pump. When you select front or rear tank on the dash, you are selecting which in tank fuel pump will operate. You can check the in tank fuel pump by listening for it to "humm" when the key is turned on..The in tank pumps only feed the main pump and cannot run the engine on their own. Hope this helps

Fuel Gauge not working

The switch that you use to change tanks is probably faulty - the switch supplies power for the sending unit in the tank, and to the transfer switch for the gas lines - use a meter to check it
