the kit is from uk and its up to date this is what it states.

UNIVERSAL USB Scanner is the latest PC-based scanning tool. It supports all OBD-II protocols. The output protocol (connection to laptop) is USB, and will cover ALL current protocols, including CAN which is the new standard for all cars in Europe. This hardware will automatically detect which protocol to use.
    OBD2 protocols covered:
    J1850 VPW
    J1850 PWM
    ISO14230-4 (KWP2000)
    ISO15756-4 (CAN-BUS)
Universal Diagnostic systems for OBD2 compliant cars including the new CAN protocol

    i hope this helps...

Is this a CAN protocol OBD 2 system ? what country was this exported to? How old is the scanner, look and see if the manual for the scanner lists the ability to read CAN data streams.

Check with Snap-on tools or Mac tools, they have a kit that will work on your car, about $400 US

Look under the hood in the engine compartment. The emissions sticker will tell you if it is obd compliant...If it is manufactured in the u.s. since 1996 , federal laws require it to be obd compliant..I would give the manufacturer of the scanner a call to check compatability...Good Luck!!!

Is the Isuzu 4JB1-TC supported by EOBD or EOBD2

wow no year, are you kidding? not even a name of car, model....
OBD , is by country. why not post your country, this is a USA forum. btw.... so......?????
and by years.
in USA (we invented it ) by US federal mandate.
in 1996 on gas engines, it was upgraded to OBD2 tech.
many countries copied our design and added to it.! or less...
like the European, EOBD or JOBD in JAPAN
and some did this in 2001, or 2006 or 2010 in china.
so the country , year and engine are the factors here, (laws really)
Smog laws dictate this...
and on turbo diesel , they are totally different laws. and dates.

the FSM (factory service manual for your car and country)
answers this question on page 1 of the PCM controls chapter....
read that yet?
on our cars the under hood label stated. OBD2 compliance.
but other countries do no use our labels, ever.!
so again, what country and what year, what car, what truck.
tell more get more.......

What obd2 protocol does the 2008 0pel astra use

OBD2 is a USA protocol
you never stated your country?
if in say UK, this would be not OBD2 but EOBD.
European OBD. see? our cars are USA OBD2 ( invented it here OBD2 is our protocol)
but in your country it's ISO spec. EOBD. (UK) or?
and in your case, you need that tool for that car. there.
on some cars the RAV4 didnt get OBD2 or EOBD until 2006
so the hood sticker shows that or not.
open hood , look up see stickers? read them here is one.
this is USA EPA tag, your country has its own style tags, look carefully
the EOBD cars in Europe may need a special cable adaptor to work , in USA we have only one, and is a stardard here, laws.

2002 rodeo is my obd ground bad my ecu wont communicate and horn wont blow but fuse is good

great question, im ane ECU spirt. )EFI.
what country, nobody ever says, that but gee, the OBD varies buy
Ill pretend USA. /Canada.

In the USA the car has OBD2. and you need a scan tool that works
on 2002 cars.
what engine, some engines have different ECU. radical differ..
they had like 3 engines here, other countries 9.

the scan tools connects to the 16pin, OBD2 connector at dash.
i the car is Can-bus. it needs a can-bus tool, all new tools work on canbus but old ones never do. (i have them back to 1995 and know this)
NON comms and tool is ok, not wrong tool . diagnosis.

  1. Pin 16 not at 12vdc, (blown fuse)
  2. ECU dead, 99% of time blown fuse to EFI. test the fuses to all EFI parts. wiring shows that.
  3. bad wiring to the DCL connector (rare) or from there to ECU
  4. yes, some crappy tools have no ground on both pin 4 and 5, buy a tool that has 2 pins there. OR it will fail on some cars. seen many POS ELM327 tools that do this horror, get a tool called, INNOVA 3160 and stop guessing, this tool works on all cars.
  5. barrow, rent , or buy or ask any sharp mech top scan car , his tool works.
  6. Fuses that look ok can IN FACT be bad, we never assume they ar good we test them. using either method, OHMS or 12vdc on both sides, is better. see? only the voltage matters, all else punts.
  7. The 3.3l communicates on pin 1 and 2..
pin 2 is PCM/ECU. VPW signalling.
and is not can-bus, yet.
simular to this.

top right photos

there you go, you tool must have VPW support on pin 2.

Keeps coming up as a error connection on two

hi i dont know where you live but just a quick heads up on OBD2, in the uk and europe OBD2 did not get put in vehicles untill 2001 as standard, so if you live in europe it will not work on your vehicle from 1992, this is possibly an EOBD type (European Onbored Diagnostice) that doe's anything in europe before 2001, if however you are from the USA Canada, or south america, this should work hope this has helped, if you could send me more information i might be able to point you in the right direction for what diagnostic system will work for you
