Where is the starter relay on a 1998 Monte Carlo located

It's not called a starter relay , it's theft deterrent relay and it's controlled by the theft deterrent module.
When the ignition switch is moved to the START position (and the theft deterrent module recognizes the key code), battery voltage is applied to starter solenoid (through the theft deterrent relay). Both solenoid windings are energized. The circuit through the pull-in winding is completed to ground through the starter motor. The windings work together magnetically to pull in and hold the plunger, which moves the shift lever. This action causes the starter drive assembly to rotate as it engages with the flywheel ring gear on the engine. At the same time, the plunger closes the solenoid switch contacts in the starter solenoid. Full battery voltage is applied directly to the starter motor, which cranks the engine.

How do i know if my starter is gone out on my 1998 monte carlo. It click like it wants to start but it want.

If you have confirmed that All Battery connections are clean and tight...and it won't jump start...this is an indication the starter will not engage...you can try to tap the starter with a hammer...then try to start again...sometimes this is a temporary fix...but also confirms the starter solenoid need to be replaced...or like in the old days...we used to rebuild them...no longer cost effective...the starter should cost about $150. It is a high energy small unit...hope this helps:)

Starter continues turning after I release the key.87 monte carlo

Hi, Check and make sure the starter relay is not sticking. If it is not, then the bendix in the starter is probably bad or not shimmed properly. You can check the starter when you remove it, be careful of the torque. Good Luck to you. Hope this Fixsya!

1995 Monte Carlo

Normally when you buy a "new" started it is actually just rebuilt. I had a similar problem. It ended up just being that I ended up buying 2 starters that were bad. I would take the starter off and have it tested before buying anything else.
