It is normal to lose your steering, bcos it it being powered by the engine, hence it can go down when the main power source dies (ENGINE)

How to replace a water pump belt on a 2000 mazda 626

If its a 4cyl 2.0 remove your wheel and shield and using a jack and a bar and chain to hold up the motor from the top lay bar across from strut to strut and secure to engine, use a jack under the engine and add pressure to remove the motor mount on that side. loosen the alternator and power steering adjusters, remove belts starting with the Pwr steering then waterpump / alt install in reverse order .. do all of them while you are at it cause its a job.. First match the numbers on the belts with the new ones to make sure they are correct. Autozone always gets it wrong.then you could be stranded..

Check engine lite just came on

Ok your cars computer is telling you a fault has occured . What you need to do is take it to a garage and get the computer scanned by a scantool to get the error code.
Once you have this error code you will know what is wrong and how to fix it.
Most good workshops have a scantool.
Hope this helps

Want to remove the ignition lock cylinder since a broken key is stuck inside.

get a phillipshead un do about 4 screws from underneath plastic cover which hides steering colume. remove cover you will see white plug on the left hand side of ignition barrel disconect.then right hand side there will be acable disconect.now get a small chissel and anti clockwise tap bolts which have no heads on them that are on top of steering colume when they are alittle bit lose use plyers its easier pull bolts out clamp will then come of and then you can pull whole ignition of. now there is 2 brass pins which hold barrel in ignition up near the key end remove and barrel will come out but it might be easier to take whole ignition to locksmith and get them to do it and get new key for around 30 bucks i did a mates about couple months ago seeya orangepeel.
