my wiper arms dont move the motor works but they dont move the arm from the motor is not connected and we cant get it connected what holds it in place

My 1991 Nissan Maxima does thisd too. Wipers don't move, but you can hear the motor wokring. Obviously it is disconnected in there somewhere. However, a quick look under the hood shows some barriers getting to the linkages. Too much for me, taking it to a mechanic.

My Maxima is a 95. Wiper motor works . Apparently frozen when turned on. Now they don't respond. How do I access the linkage? Looks like they disappear into the firewall

we were experiencing the same problem, we took it to the garage and they told us the bushings were bad? Does that make sense?

They might well be!
Check under the hood / bonnet at the linkage connections.
Occasionally, the bolt / fixing can work free, allowing the motor to work as normal.
This does not transfer the motion to the wiper arms and you get the motor noise but no movement.
Depending on the car, it could be easy - or very difficult to access the linkages.

Hope this helps.

If the wiper motor is working the relay is not your issue. Linkage to the motor must have failed or come loose.

If both wipers don't move, could be the switch or the wiper motor.

Ford f150 windshield wiper bushing diagram. windshield wipers are not working , motor is going and the wiper arms will move freely when truck is not on

sounds like a loose nut. there are nuts that hold the wiper arms on, they may be under a cover but theyre at the base of the wiper arm. also there's a nut that holds the wiper linkage onto the wiper motor. if you can move the wipers independently, it's the nuts connecting the wiper arms.if you move one arm and the other moves with it, it's the nut holding the linkage to the motor.

Windshield wipers will not move. Arms from motor

Hello

The windshield wiper linkage comes as an assembly. The assembly comes with the two rotating splines that the wiper arms attach to. you must remove wiper arms. Remove cowl trim and remove bolts that hold the pivot points to the body. The new linkage that snaps to the wiper motor should come with a new retaining clip. You have to fish the linkage assembly through the access holes in the body by un bolting the wiper motor.

Windshield Wipers dont work and can be moved freely by hand

sounds like wipers arm is not securely attached to shaft that is attached to wiper motors. They can strip out and you can either us JB weld to put them on or get new ones or junk yard ones.

Windshield Wipers

Under the cowl (it is a plastic piece that the windshield wipers come out of) are the wiper arms that connect to the wiper motor. There are plastic parts that hold the wiper arms to the wiper motor. Lots of time these plastic parts dry out and break and the wiper arm will fall off the wiper motor. I would bet if you tried to move one of the wipers by hand both of them would move with little resistance. This would tell me that the wiper arms are disconnected from the wiper motor. The parts to fix this are easy to get. I know the motormite HELP line of parts used to have the plastic bushings to fix this problem.
