There are two relay's in the under hood fuse box .Low beam & high beam relay's . The B+ voltage wire for the switch is orange with a black trace . Power is from fuse F26 7.5 amp ,location -central junction box , inside the passenger compartment . Do you know where this is ? This is B+ voltage for control of the relays . B+ voltage for the headlamps comes directly from the BATTERY . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click on daytime running lamps . Click the search button then the blue links .
IN THE BREAK PEDAL IT HAS A SWITH BUTTON THAT WHEN YOU PUSH THE PEDAL TO BRAKE IT MAKES THAT THAT BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON AND WHEN YOU RELEASE THE PEDAL TURN THE BRAKE LIGHTS OF THESE SWITCH HAS 2 CABLES YOU NEED TO CHANGE IT IN A YUNKYARD YOU CANT FIND IT CHEP IF YOU DONT FIND A MERCURY COUGAR SEARCH A THUNDERBIRD OR A GRAND MARQUIS OR LINCOLN THEY HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF PARTS AND ITS EASY TO REMOVE IT YOU CAN DO IT YOUR SELF
CHECK THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE A ASSISTANT OPERATE BRAKES TO SES IF BRAKES LIGHTS WORK WHILE APPLY BRAKES BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH DEACTIVATES THE CRUISE CONTROL.IF BRAKE LIGHTS DONT WORK.CHECK FUSE IF BRAKE LIGHT FUSE IS GOOD.THE BRAKE SWITCH IS BAD OR HAVE A OPEN FROM FUSE BOX TO THE SWITCH.IF BRAKE LIGHTS WORKING.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO SCAN VECHICLE BECAUSE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED BY A SERVO MOTOR MOTOR, BRAKE SWITCH ,CONTROL SWITCHES ,SPEED SENSORS AND RELAYS. SEE YOU HAVE TO HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED YOU HAVE TOO MANY CONTROL DEVICES.
There is a Relay under the Hood in the Fuse Relay Box. Replace this and it should be OK. If not let me know so that we can look elsewhere for the Problem. Please Rate my Solution, I need all the Help that I can Get!
did you check the relay? it would be in something that looks like another fusebox under the hood, in the engine compartment. if its not a bulb, fuse or relay, then it is a wiring problem.
there are a few fuses under the hood be sure to check fuses again at dash they could look good but not be and if one was blown it could have blown as soon as you turned them on again that would indicate a short. it could be the switch also if it is the pull type try pulling it slowly to see if they come on and turning it like to dim the dash lights. if that makes them come on you need a new switch sometimes it will work sometimes not
Thanks now I am wondering if you know of any way to check the relay?
