Question about 2003 Ford Windstar
I have just purchased a 2003 Winstar and just yesterday after driving for about 10 mins or so the O/D off light starts flashing. Now I have a DVD player that was installed under the passenger seat by the previous owner.
I need to pay closer attention but the player cuts on when I start the van. This morning the O/D off light started flashing about 2 mins down the road after I had made sure the DVD player was turned off. I had also just made and envasive manuver where I served slightly around a car in front of me who decided to turn at the last minute just before the light started flashing - not sure if this is related or not.
However, I got to a stopping point (red light) and cut the engine off and then started the van again and the light remained off. Granted the DVD player was back on . . .
Wondering if there is something the DVD player could be connected to that could cause this issue - my ex did do some work on it Sunday and I know there is a great deal of feedback from the engine when my kids are watching a DVD in the sound.
Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.
Also, van has 82,000 miles
I am a retired Ford technician, so I have seen and know why the OD light is flashing, it indicates a problem with the transmission, it is no related to the DVD player in any way, have a parts store like Kragen or others run a scanner on the Van, there will be a trouble code stored that will give an idea of the problem with the van's transmission, post the code back on this thread and I will look at it and give you some idea of the problem and cost to fix it.
