Question about 2006 Dodge Stratus

Open Question

2006 Dodge Stratus-Theft system problem.

My 2006 Stratus was broken into and the person attemted to peel the column to steal it,but was unsuccessful.
I had a used column installed, but since then, intermittently the vehicle will not crank over,or will start-and then die within a few seconds.
The Dodge dealer thought at first it was a skim module programming problem, but they have replaced 3 skim modules,3 keys, reprogrammed the security system multiple times, and checked the used column/wiring for aftermarket theft/security chips/wires and found nothing.
Any thoughts on what to do next besides replacing the column since this problem was not present prior to the attemted theft?
Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: 98 dodge grand caravan will not start

This is very similar to a problem my sister had with her 1998 Caravan. She found that you need to remove the instrument pod and resolder the connector on the circuit board. Due to cracks, the thing will sometimes not have a good connection, causing the trouble. Mine just developed this problem too, so remedying it myself.
Go to this link for more info and a helpful disassembly PDF.
If it doesn't work, search for 1998_chrysler_pod_repair and you should find the PDF. I hope this helps! It's really much easier to take apart than you'd think.

SOURCE: 1997 Dodge Intrepid cranks over won't fire

I have this same NO START problem...
Began with tach giving readings not exceding 1200 rpm with strange 4000 + spikes.. Cruse control would not turn on or off at times and indicator light would only work sometimes..Had several episodes of excessive cranking to get it to start.. Stalling out while driving and even at freeway speeds.. Pulling the negative cable for 10 min. allowed it to start although with lots of cranking and put it in limp mode which required another computer reset to get out of.. Had thrown error codes related to cam and crank sensors which were replaced along with coil and manifold temp sensors.. Had the 9 volt power to sensors when key was on but the check engine light does not stay on with all the other idiot lights..
I wish people who respond would read the post first..
Original post states,
Cranks,No spark,No fuel pump run, changed some sensors ect...
If it cranks it ain't the neutral safety switch, starter or battery!! WAKE UP!!
Seems the computer is not turning on the coil, injectors or fuel pump for a reason.. Find that reason and you will find the solution to the problem.. Seeing as that the computers logic states are a dealer secrete the poster as I have changed many parts in blind hope that it will fix the problem.. Relays, sensors and ecu computer.. Did a visual check of all harness potential wear spots like where it crosses over the power rack..
Could it be in the wiring harness inside the dash??
Could it be a bad ground??
Can an alternator that has failed cause the computer not to start??
Can a bad oil pressure sensor cause the computer not to start??
Can signal loss from the TCU or BCU to the ECU cause this??
Is there an undocumented kill if the ECU thinks it was in an accident??
I can ground the relay line from the ECU and the fuel pump runs and pressures up and the other relays turn on as well..
This crank but no start problem seems to be common with a lot of 1994-2001 Dodge and Chrysler owners.. All these systems have become interlaced with undocumented safety features that baffle the DIYer..If you have seen this and have fixed it PLEASE RESPOND!!!!

SOURCE: anti theft will not reset

I got one of those cars. I feel your pain. If the security light keeps blinking it will not start.

First try the unlock sequence with the remote from outside the car... That fails try unlocking the drivers door with the orginal key and then try cranking. If the security light stays blinking your screwed.

Does the bus light come on?

Put new key ignition in my 1999 and it will not program to turn over and start the vehicle

Is because the ignition/column and theft module do not match, or maybe damaged theft system during the attempted theft of truck. You can bypass tho.

Window lock on dodge 2006 dodge stratus

if all other things fail, check the wiring between the body and drivers door. its very common to have a broken wire here causing window related problems. more than fifty percent of the cars i have checked for this had broken wires or wires with the insulation cracked. its easy to check this, just disconnect the rubber boot and slide it back from either end to inspect the wires

My 2006 dodge stratus wont start

If the engine will not crank over with the starter then have the battery and starter tested first and then go from there. If the theft system is the problem you will have a warning light on in the dash or a message on alerting you to the problem in the anti theft system.
