Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT
My abs and trac off lights came on and I don't know what that means
I asked the mechanic when I got the new tires put on and he said this could be 'fixed' by repacking the bearings. This is plausible if one or more are dragging and causing the sensors to detect too much variation in the speeds.
Since the new tires have been on, only a few errors and not any lately even with a sharp turn. The temperature seems to have an effect.
i will ask more mechanics in the next few weeks and report.

I JUST GOT THIS SAME PROBLEM FROM A YOUNG LADY AND FOUND OUT SHE NEVER BACKS UP. PULLED THE REAR DRUMS TO FIND THE REAR SHOES LIKE NEW AND WAY OUT OF AJUSTMENT. BACKING UP AND HITTING THE BRAKES ACTUALLY CAUSES THE BRAKES TO SELF ADJUST. THE ABS IS SENSING NO REAR BRAKE PRESSURE. I ADUSTED THE BRAKES AND THEN BACKED UP A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET THE FINAL AJUSTMENT AND THERE HAS BEEN NO PROBLEM SINCE. HOPE THIS HELPS!
