Dash/back lighting doesnt work, although clock dimmer does. probably happened when fitting a stereo. wondering if i can get a wiring diagram for lighting, or if someone can tell me where the relay is that controls them, as i probably blew it up?

find the short, could be in the switch or a wire itself...and if you have a bulb out it complicates finding it even morenew fuse it, then turn things back on one at a time...should tell u where the problem is
the bulb could have been bad, yet the aftermarket stereo wiring takes voltage from your dash, hence the illumination/dimmer. really dont need those wires. they hook up to your dash lighting, and draw power from your dash, take those wires out and see if any changes. Id first take the wires out, if no change then the bulbs are probably bad.
The parking and tail lights are usually on the same fuse as the dash lights so if the outside lights are working it sounds like the instrument dimmer control has failed. The electronic bits inside the control for these lights sometimes go faulty. A temporary fix is to remove the wiring plug that attaches to the back of the dimmer control and put a jumper wire across the terminals. If dash lights then work then replace dimmer control.
No insult intended, but are you sure the lights on dash aren't just dimmed out? I fell for that one when it went through the car wash. Wiping down everything one of them rolled the dash dimmer. Good luck. And that inj looks like an abreviation for injector. That needs to be looked into cause something or an injector is shorted. good luck
this is caused by your dash light "dimmer" either going bad, or coming un-plugged due to recent work (like stereo or alarm installation usually).. if it is unplugged - plug it in, if it is plugged in, order one from the dealer or just get one from a wrecking yard. If you have had a new stereo installed right before this happened, make sure to have them also check their wiring.
Hi, I'm assuming you mean the backlighting that illuminates the dials and clocks? If so, do all the other lights, such as on the heater panel, and window switches work? If so it's just a problem with the instrument panel. Have you tried operating the dashlight dimmer switch? Sometimes if it's left in the same position for a long time the connection gets a bit dirty (like a crackly volume control on a stereo) So it might be an idea to work it back and forth to see what happens. Did this happen suddenly? That may indicate a bad connection to the dash unit. Give the dash a slap above the clock units (you never know, it's worked for me) It doesn't sound like a serious problem The bulbs in the dash do gradually "blacken up" and do have to be changed periodically. But you don't notice until the last one has gone Please check for ANY other electrical items not working first. Electricity can do some strange things in cars. Hope I've been of some help. Kev.
No, the light is totally out. The little light bulb that is connected to the stereo is out. I was wondering the best way to take the dash off. I don't have a manual and I was wondering where that light bulb is connected to and the best way to approach it? Thanks
