Speed Sensor I am trying to find the speed sensor around the transmission housing. No, such luck. Is it near the driver side wheel, the back side or underneath the Transmission?

There are two speed sensors, one in the transmission, and one on the spedometer see here.

To locate the sensor buy the Haynes or Chilton manual, there you will find diarams and procedures for all your car service and repair, that is a must if you want DIY.
You can find manual here :

Near the rear of the transmission in the side of the housing it will have wires that plug into it .

2007 3.5 dodge Dakota rpm sensor where is it located to replace

Not sure what you mean by rpm sensor. The signal for the tachometer comes from the PCM and is based on signals from the crankshaft position sensor, located on the right rear of the engine where the transmission bolts to the engine, but if this is bad, there are a lot more problems than the tachometer not working. There are two speed sensors on automatic transmissions, an input speed sensor and an output speed sensor. Both are located on the left side of the transmission, the input speed sensor near the front (just behind the bell shaped portion) and the output speed sensor near the rear. In addition to those there are wheel speed sensors for the ABS, located in each wheel area covered by the ABS.

The wheel speed sensor is located in the hub assembly, one on each wheel hub. The vehicle speed sensor is located at the rear of the transmission near the output shaft on the right side of transmission.

The speed sensor (transmission revolution sensor) is located on the left side of the bellhousing near the top. Access is through the driver's side wheel well.

Ford explorers speedometer just stopped working. everything else is working fine what could cause this

If your speedometer stopped working try replacing the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). This is a fairly easy task and found on the underside of the drivers side compartment near the transmission housing. It has one small retaining nut and a plug-in two wire connection. Spread the clip, pull the connection apart then pull old sensor out. Put a small bit of transmission fluid around the O ring (new). Install in reverse order. Part cost about $18.00. If that dosen't do it then the plastic gear inside the sensor housing may be worn. Hope this helps you.

Where is the speed sensor located

If you mean the vehicle speed sensor that sends signal to your speedometer, it plugs into the transmission near the back of the housing, fairly close to where the driveshaft attaches, probably on the driver's side about half way up the housing.

Where is the output speed sensor on a 01 hyundai santa fe?

I wanted to post a reply to this because I also have a 2001 2.7l V6 4wd and my output speed sensor was directly underneath the air filter housing/box and NOT "deep behind the transmission" as the poster said above. It was very easy to get to, and took me about 10 minutes to replace. The part number for mine (genuine Hyundai/KIA) is 42621 39052 if that helps. And this is NOT the 02 sensor mentioned in the previous post. What we're talking about here is the Output Speed Sensor on the transmission. You may get a code P0720 from your CEL. You can also download TSB 05-40-011from for more info and a diagram of the location. Hopefully this might help someone in the future. Good luck!
