Beetle Convertible window problem

2003 Volkswagon convertible, when you open the door the window is suppose to go down slightly. It just stopped working. I can operate the window up and down, it just doesn't drop down when you open the door.

I have the same problem, I have been told the whole door latch assembly will need to be replaced at the cost of £150 +vat. Does this sound correct?

We took our 2004 beetle convertible in to get the battery replaced.when we got it back the drivers side window would not drop down when you open the door.It worked when we drove it into the shop. They said the latch has to be replaced and it will cost $385.00.I wonder if they didnt do something to make us get it repaired.Sounds fishy to me..

2003 Convertible: My problem is that the window lowers and raises, just at the wrong times. It lowers when the door closes, and raises when the door is being opened. Is the door latch switch 'reversible' ?

My wife's car is a 2004 convertible. We had the same problem. There is a switch built into the door latch assembly. Whenever you pull either the interior or exterior door handle, the switch lowers the door glass a certain amount.

We replaced the door latch assembly and that corrected the problem.

it sounds to me the wire harness in the driver door //its the rubber
hose that runs from the door to the door jam pull the rubber apart
and you will find a break in one if not more of the wires just splice
the wires and tape them and put the rubber back.

2003 new beetle convertible. Driver's side window will not lower 1/2" when door is opened to seal properly when the door is closed. Is there a simple fix?

Memory not set.

Raise window and keep holding switch down for 5 seconds to set memory.

Do same for down.

Try it and see if up stop memory set.

Power window open partially with inside or outside

inside the mechanical lock (The part that actualy holds the door shut when you close it) there is a switch that informs the control unit that the lock is either locked or unlocked.
These switches fail sometimes, when this happens the control unit is not aware that you have opened the door, and therefor will not wind the window down slightly.
The switch is integral with the lock unit, and they are not easy things to replace either.

2007 Beetle convertible, window doesn't drop

Possibly just a relay telling the window to lower slightly has gone bad. If it's only when the top is put up or down, you can either lower the windows yourself (most cost effective since it's not a major inconvenience), take it to a dealer if you are still under warranty, or check to see if there is a sensor or relay that has gone bad, causing this malfunction.

Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Power Window Release

i would think the door is not recognised as being opened.if the interior or door light does not work when the door is opened its probally due to a faulty microswitch in the door lock mechanism, the whole lock mechanism will need to be replaced.

Window wont auto lower or rise to open door

my guess is the door lock mechanism is faulty.if the window control unit does not see a signal for the door being opened it will not raise or lower the window...does the interior light opperate when the door is opened???.if not you can put money on it being the mechanism.

2003 new beetle top won't go up

Try resetting the pinch protection program. You do this by inserting the key into the drivers side door, turning to the right and holding untill the windows are fully raised. Then you turn to the left and hold untill the windows are fully lowered. This is supposed to reset the program.

Good luck.
