The corvette was hit in the front and both airbags deployed. We purchased a new key fob and had it programmed. There is power to every part of the car including the dash which displays all of the info center messages, gauges will check themselves, etc. The push button turns green and when pushed, the dash goes black except for the engine symbol. I can hear the fuel pump engage and the throttle valve flutter. I can even hear the starter relay, but absolutely nothing from the starter. I removed the starter and had it checked three times and the tester said all is perfect with the starter. There's pressure in the fuel line as well. Both ground wires on either frame rail are still in tact. There are a couple of broken and nicked wires coming out of the abs pump. Could that cause the power dump? The key man that came out also brought the latest gm scan tool and had access to a gm diagnostic website. He linked the car via satellite and came back with a "can buss wire" error code. Any wiring damage starts from in front of the engine forward such as lights, horn, cooling fan, etc. We have beat our brains out on this one. Do you have any suggestions???

This procedure will add or replace key fobs. To perform this procedure you must have the following: a fob already programmed to the module, a replacement key fob, and a scan tool

What is the reason for the deployment of the airbags , did you hit the car or they open with no reason. If you hit the car there is fail safe mechanism to stop the engine automatically.
Before messing around with the ECU doesn't it make sense to find out why the fuel pump and other circuits are not working Get yourself a schematic and voltage meter, roll up your sleeves and start tracking .
in the U.S. the airbags are programmed to deploy @ 9mph(roughly the same as hitting a kerb hard.)so if the airbag went off you would not know if you hit a pothole, unless you went back to look....dont know any makers airbags that have recalls applied to them.
think of the litigation if there were...........
The 2006 has an engine imobiliser in the ignition and micro chip in the key fob. There could be a low battery in your key fob. Take your spare key or your good key and hold it right beside the push button when cranking. See if that allows the engine to fire and remain on. If so replace the battery inside the fob. You can do this by pulling the glove box (silver) key from the end of the fob and inserting the tip of the key into its slot sideways to pop open the **** shell housing and expose the internal battery. Post back with results.
Could be a faulty sensor (unlikely), Did you have any error codes before the accident? If so they could have been for the airbags for whatever reason. The impact might not have been hard enough (Yeah I know 30mph).
Airbags are deployed based on measurements from accelerometers in the car. If some predetermined G-force is not met, the bags won't deploy. You could have the dealer verify a properly functioning system when the car is repaired but given you were hit from behind (negative G's) and then hit the car in front of you (positive G's), you may not have hit hard enough (for the car, not you) to have the bags deploy.
