Question about 1992 Chevrolet S-10

1992 s-10 After replacing a stock 2.8 with another one in my s-10 I have headlights but no power anywhere else. What is my wiring problem and where do I look to fix it.

You may have forgot to hook one of the wires on the starter i would check there first

My dim headlights went out. What can I do? Has anyone else experienced this problem?


For more than a decade, GM used wiring for the headlights that barely met the amperage requirements for stock headlights. When owners replaced stock headlights with upgrades, the wires would simply fry.
The only real solution is to run NEW 10AWG (or 8AWG) wires from the headlight switch (or automatic headlight relay) all the way to the headlight connectors. (You can follow the extant routing of wires.) Best of luck to you!

Tail lights not working


All of the marker and tail lights are powered from a 15amp fuse going thru the headlight switch on a brown wire. Do you have power from that circuit coming out of the headlight switch ?

O2 sensors wiring diagrams


Locate the wires running off from the O2 sensor. There should be two. The black wire is the ground wire. The other wire, which may vary in color, supplies power to the sensor.

  • 2 Connect the power lead to the corresponding connector on the chassis's wiring harness.
  • 3 Connect the black, or ground, lead to the corresponding connector on the factory wiring harness.
  • 3 wires, "how do i wire it" are simply explained. all universal 3 wire o2 sensors will have 2 wires one color, the other wire a different color. the 2 that are the same color are ground and power for the heater and it doens't matter which one is which. so ground to the motor, power from the gray wire on the fuel pump, or anywhere you want to pull 12 volts while the car is running. i have a dedicated fan relay that doesn't use the ecm and runs off the key, so thats where i went. the different color wire goes to the stock sensor wire, it's the signal.

    Were is the fuse for a passenger side headlight replaced the light and it still doesnt work cant find it anywhere


    if 1 headlight is workin its not the fuse as the 2 headlamps and tail lamps are ran off the 1 fuse.. check the connector that the wires aint brokin check bulb aswel hope dis is helpful

    Left headlight is not working.


    Check the ground wire for that particular headlamp. You can run another ground wire by splicing one in and ground it anywhere on the metal of the car to check first

    I replaced the stock radio with an aftermarket one and my tail lights and dash lights dont work now


    Most likely you got the illumination wire for the stock radio grounded. The stock radio has lights in it that are connected to the dash lights to illuminate the dials of the radio. Most aftermarket stereos don't have a hook up for that. The wire may have got hooked up to ground. I would check the fuse to see if it's bad. Also you might want to undo the new stereo, replace the fuse, if it's bad, and check the wires for battery when the headlights are on.

    The passenger side headlamp is loose due to broken plastic supports within. I need the parts and cost.

    Sounds like the headlight mount panel is broken. A grand am headlight bolts in front the top.. 2 or 3 blots and its out. Make sure the headlight mounts arent broken or you will have to replace that as well. You can find mount panels on the internet or from a salvage yard anywhere from $60.00-$100.00 depending on quality. A headlight will be in the same range.

    Can i use h4 -130/80cp-60/55w halogen lights on my 2002 kia spectra


    hi,

    you can try to see if the kias headlight wiring and assmeblies will take it. it may blow a fuse. first leave the stock headlight on for ten minutes to see how hot the composite headlight assembly gets. replace one on the passenger side with the hotter bulb and observe how hot the wires and composite headlamp assembly is getting. it it gets to hot to handle then I wouldnt do it. if its okay then replace them both, feel the main headlight wires to make sure theyre not to hot either. leave them on with the replacements for another 10 minutes, the stock fuse would blow in that time. You may have to go up 5 amps on the headlight fuses but absolutely no more. have you seen the other type of headlights HID's?
    you might want to try that option as well, and I think those are are designed to replace stock installations better. use your discretion and be careful. the last thing you want is headlights using their own candlepower! lol,

    Horn honks when Headlights are on


    The circuits are separate, sounds like there is a short inside the wiring harness that is for the headlights and the horn. I would inspect it and try to find the source. Was anything done to the car before this happened, were different headlight lamps installed that use more wattage then stock lamps?

    your in for a real treat.... i had a similar problem with mine, the stock gm wiring is terrible, your best bet pull the wiring apart in the front of the car and inspect each wire splice they tend to corrode and once it gets to a certain point it wont allow any electricity to pass, i ended up rewiring the entire headlight system myself. you can get the wiring diagram from the haynes manual. good luck
