Working on my 93 Lincoln, I noticed that it has 2 relays on the drivers side. They are side by side. I believe that one is the fuel pump relay and the other is an ignition relay. This is basically the same as on my 1983 Grand Marquis. I was told to replace the relays as a pair. They are square in shape. Look on the fender wall and you should see them.

Car will not start, the car will turnover but will not crank...fuel pump is 1 yr old...please advise

Try spraying starter fluid in the breather to see if the problem is fuel related or electrical. If the car starts and dies it is fuel related. Check the fuel pump relay .if its good the problem will be the fuel pump..Next electrical remove a spark plug wire to see if it is firing at the spark plug . Let me know how it comes out.. GOOD LUCK!

Won't start. turning, but won't fire.

If you think its fuel, spray some starter fluid inthe throttle body. If it fires up, you have a fuel problem, otherwise, check your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also, check your fuses.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee, drove fine yesterday. No signs of anything wrong. Now this a.m. starter engaged and everything seemed fine, but would not ignite and turn over.

The engine needs 3 things to run: fuel, spark and compression. It is most likely either no spark or no fuel. You can check the spark by taking out one of the spark plugs and ground it out on a piece of metal on the engine. Have someone crank the engine and watch the spark plug for a blue spark. It is easier to see if it is in the shade or it is dark. One way to check to see if it is a problem with no fuel is to get a can of starting fluid. Gain access to the intake by taking out the air cleaner. Spray a shot or 2 of the starting fluid in the intake while someone cranks the engine. Don't keep spraying the starting fluid for a long time because it can wash the oil off of the cylinder walls. If the engine is getting spark but no fuel, the starting fluid will cause the engine to run for a few seconds. If it runs for any time at all then you will know that there is spark and the problem is with the fuel system. After you determine if it is a spark or fuel problem you will have to diagnose what part of the system is causing your problem.

Engine cranks but no start

Spray some starter fluid in the air breather, if it starts, it's not getting fuel. Bad fuse, connection, pump etc

What coul be keeping my 1986 honda civic from starting? The plugs all spark, the fuel pump gives gas to the carb, Ive changed all plugs cap and rotor and have tried spraying starter fluid directly into...

It cranks really good sputters a little and makes some loud pops but it will not turn over? FYI:Cranking and turning over are the same thing. When was the last time it ran. The gas could be bad. Did you get new plug wires as well. Try testing the distributor, remove a spark plug, plug it back into the wire, and touch the threads to ground and crank the engine. It should spark. Keep your fingers away, that's high voltage. Remove all spark plugs, spray some starting fluid in each cylinder, then crank the engine with the plugs out. This will clean any debris from the cylinders. Engines need backpressure to run properly, a major exhaust leak hence the popping, could cause it to not run. If you can get it started try to keep it going, full throttle, keep in the starting fluid, it could just need to get warm. I used to have one of them and they don't like it when they're cold.
