Question about Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra

03 elantra headlight assembly problem

I attempted to replace the bulb on my 03 Elantra. It seemed like an easy thing to do. wrong (for me at least). While removing the old bulb, I must have pushed to ******* the wire holding it in, and it came off, and do think the small tab holding it in broke. I am assuming that I now need to replace the headlight assembly?(will duct tape work lol) I can get a used one for about $50 at a parts store locally, but how difficult is it to remove and replace the assembly? I'm moderately useful when it comes to handyman stuff, but not much car experience. Seems like it's just 2-3 screws holding in on the top, and behind it?
thanks for any thoughts and tips, I feel like a ********

My 2005 Hyundai Elantra is going through headlights like there's no tomorrow!

I have found this many times wit some aftermarket bulbs, but the most common problem is that because the wire clip that holds the bulb is so hard to get to (unless you do it every day) it may get bent while trying to remove it. When this happens the bulb vibrates and will blow just from the vibration. Wiggle the bulb to see if it feels loose, if so go to the dealer and buy a new clip. you will need to remove the headlamp to replace it.

It's probably not your alternator. The airbag light would be on for an overvoltage condition.

How to take of the headlight leans to clean it on a 2004 hyundai elantra

most of the time the dullness in the headlight assembly cannot be due to the lens dirt. this is due to poor reflector which has dulled out in the years of use. open the assembly remove the bulb and use good quality liquid cleaners to clean through the bulb opening. use a dry cloth to polish and finish off.

Remove headlight cover for 2002 elantra

You shouldn't need to.  If you pop your hood open, you can unplu the headlight hardness from the bulbs.  Then you should be able to turn the bulb assembly about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and they will come right out.

Adjustment headlights '02 Hyundai Elantra

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.
