Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT

1 Answer

Engine replacemnet I paid Hueblor Pontiac to install a new engine on 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Gt. at a cost of 3200.00 dollars. The engine has a 100,000 mile warranty, but know one could ever find the warranty papers. After 1 year and about 11,000 miles the engine takes 20 minutes to warm up and get oil to the lifters. The liftter noise is pronounced. I change my oil anf filter every 2000 and take care of my car How do i find the engine numbers for my old engine and the supposed new engine. I was told the engine was from Linton Motors and I want to make sure i got what I paid for.

You can call GM to find out what engine was originally installed in the car, based on your VIN number.

Overheated while driving. heater started blowing cold air shortly later. Got it to work and engine very hot. ticking from the radiator. Reservoir of coolant "boiling over." Can I get it to...

I had a 96 Pontiac Grand Am and it had a similar problem, my water pipe disconnected, and that caused my engine to overheat, but since it wasn't sucking heat out of the engine like it was supposed to the "heat" was cold. It shouldn't be a bad fix. but the engine is going to overheat and that's going to kill your head gaskets. fix it before your head gaskets blow, mine was going to cost 2500 dollars for the new head gaskets, eff that, new car. So hurry before it happens to you.

hope it helps.

I need to know where the thermostat is located in a 2000 pontiac grand am. 6 cyl. my heater no longer works and the car registers hot

I am not familar with your engine but follow your upper radiator hose to where it connects to the engine block. This is usually the thermostat housing. Another option is to buy a Haynes manual for your vehicle. cost about $20 at autozone
