Question about 1999 Dodge Ram
I have a 1999 dodge ram 4x4 sport the problems i am having are, the transmission seems like it is constantly shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear when driving around town about 35-45mph. Also when i take off from a dead stop and put the gas to the floor transmission shifts great until i go from 3rd to 4th it goes into like a neutral position and will not shift at high rpm when it should unless i slightly let of gas and lower rpm? There is no grinding or noises and shifts in gear smoothly. I cant figure it out? Thanx for the help...
Ummm i would say you need to adjust your trans shift cable, check your fluid level, and the problem i had with my dodge was similar to yours... it was my 3rd-4th actuator spring, it had broke and couldnt hold the pressure to keep it in gear

Purchase a gear shift repair kit for your car. They are pretty cheap. About 20 bucs. The ball and bushings are probably worn.

Ratio codes generally indicate a pressure loss & slipping which the computer reads as a gear ratio problem. Likely you need a rebuild.

check or replace your thottle position sensor tps that trans needs to know where the throttle is to shift if it is bad it will do as you say wont shift to third
another telltale is it will act like it goes into lockup when shifting into reverse and stall the engine
