So many directions to go....I would start with making sure you have a fully charged battery and good connections to the battery and starter as well as the starter sloenoid. As i recall there is fusable links that give power to the whole system and they are located on the solenoid this is assuming what you mean by no power no lights no start is when you turn the key it will not turn over at all.

First, if you have a shop manual for vans you have as much or more info than the folks who answer questions on this website. A 5.0 engine and your 5.8 are more or less the same, just different size pistons. A shop manual should have wiring diagrams in the back of the book. You will need to figure out if you are having a problem with fuel or ignition assuming you have good compression. One common problem with Ford products that won't start is the EEC relay and the fuel pump relay. There is a list of options with no spark, including the coil, cap-rotor-wires, plugs, and the ignition module that fires the coil.
Connect a timing light to the number one plug wire and crank the engine. Does the light flash indicating that the Number one is firing? Look at the distributor. If you have a distributor cap and rotor assembly remove the distributor cap and crank the engine. If the rotor turns check the rotor to make sure there is a good contact point and check the distributor cap to ensure there are good contacts. If either is damaged or worn replace them both. If the rotor does not turn you have a broken timing belt or one of the timing belt/chain guides has jammed and the engine needs to be rebuilt.
If not cranks at all check the battery for charge, starter, fuses
If cranks no start check wiring(replace) , distributor cap (replace), rotor, ignition coil
