Question about 2006 Honda Accord

2 Answers

Car won't start. Makes a sizziling or "zzzz" noise when key is turned on.

Have had this problem off and on for almost 2 years. My 3 year warranty will run out October 27, 2008. Took car to Honda dealer for servicing right after problem happened the first time. I was told everything was ok. Tthe first 3 times I had this problem, I called AAA to jump start the battery. Have used Dynamite DP300 AutoPower to jump start at least 8 - 10 times since. Car starts right up each time after its been jump started. Have had to do this at least 5 times in last two weeks. Put an overnight charge on battery last week. Same problem again about 3 days later. I'm hoping that the problem is just with the battery but am concerned that there may be something else causing this. Please help.

Had car checked again at dealership. They stated they checked the charging system and battery would not hold a charge. Found a bad cell in the battery. The alternator was working fine. Battery replaced. Car has been starting fine since battery replaced.

My vehicle will not start but when I turn the key the car beeps at me.

More than likely, as crazy as it may seem, if the Battery is more than 3-years old it's probably not holding a good enough charge for starting. Try a Jump from another vehicle cable go Black to Black and red to red. If it starts take the cables off and let it charge a while.Shut it off and try it again, if you still have problems get the battery and Charging system professionally checked. Good Luck.

My car won't turn on it makes a click noise but won't turn on, also the car hasn't been turned on for about a year

if the battery is in good condition and charged properly, then more than likeley it needs the brushes in the starter motor replacing. (this is also providing that the engine is not seized. you can check that the engine is not seized by turning it over by hand with a socket and wrench from the nut in the middle of the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. you may also need to remove the spark plugs just to make sure the engine is not hydraulicing from water in one of the cylinders from a blown head gasket. (i am only saying this because i dont know the history of your car)

2011 hyundai sonata won't start. battery seems fine. loud clicking/knocking when i turn the key. would it be the starter?

Unusual for the starter to fail on a one year old car.
You are having it towed to a dealer for warranty repairs, right ?

So the problem has been occuring for a year and you are just now trying to fix it? Sorry, I just simply do not understand why people do this...keep driving it until it won't drive anymore even though you KNOW it has a problem....Maybe you can explain this to me???

If you can hear the starter clicking when you try to start it, then you have a bad starter. If it makes no noise at all. then you most likely have a bad clutch switch.

remove the AC relay to shut the AC off all the time. Not sure why it wont start but you may havea security lockout. Fully charge the battery to proceed.

This has been an ongoing issue for the last 2-3 years now. First the car would all of a sudden not start. We'd wait 10-15 minutes then try again and it would start. It began happening more frequently. ...

Maybe resetting the theft system. To do this you need to get in the car, turn everything off, turn the key to on, wait about 10mim or so till the light stops flashing, them turn key to off and back to start engine.

Sorry, most warranties only cover original repair and no warranty repairs after that. In other words warranty doesn't get a new start date. This is not what you want to hear but as I am in the industry that is the usual wayit operates... Unless you can talk them into extending another year or two....

Car wont start

First clean all battery terminals ensure there is no corrotion, after cleaning them light coat with a dab of grease to protect from further corrosion.

Although the lights may work, the battery may not have enough power to kick the starter over.

Since you specified no noise, suggest you check the starter solenoid first. Ensure the battery is good and holding the charge.
5 years old, time for a new one. 3 years old, need to have it check for CCA (Cold Cranking Amps)

Ensure your alternator is working properly. May not be charging the battery.
